True although IIRC Nine’s former CEO Hugh Marks said something about not being interested in short form sporting competitions as it’s hard to make a profit, which was the main reason they walked away from the T20 Cricket World Cup.
Unless if the price is right (aka not as exorbitant as they stand at the moment) I don’t think Nine will bother.
I got caught up in that - thought it was an issue with my Internet for a minute but turned out someone at Seven cut the stream early at the worst time imaginable (2 outs in the bottom of the 7th inning) in the worst event possible (ie; a Gold Medal Game).
Peacock was never promoted as offering everything from the Olympics but rather as being a destination for live coverage of certain sports (eg; gymnastics + track & field on the free tier and Team USA men’s basketball games for paid subscribers) and other Olympics programming.
To be frank, a lot of the criticism about NBC’s coverage is overexaggerated/misguided from people seemingly wanting/waiting to find something to criticize about. The issue with that is it detracts from the aspects of their coverage which warrant criticism (eg; the limited coverage of live events on NBC proper)
I think having access to everything live and free has been really beneficial for viewers who love certain sports. 7 know this and have seen massive streaming mins because of this!!
