Possibly with a little help from the Olympics Weekend Today tied with Weekend Sunrise in the 5-cit metro market both with 202,000. Both would have faced competition from viewers watch Olympics on 9Gem as well.

The weekday show also starting to get a bit of Olympic halo traction. Yesterday was the show’s highest national rating of the year and in the metro markets Today beat Sunrise 227,000 to 214,000.

I don’t actually mind this, if Nine don’t want to invest in seperate set for Today, they can at least add some set elements like fake plantation and other items that break up the set and make it feel less “News-y”

I agree it is a bit strange on face value but then again we have Mon and Eddy interchangeably filling weekday news/hosting weekend sunrise respectively
