Agreed, it’s not a terrible idea. This Morning in the UK was always at its best when hosted by a couple (the best-known being Richard Madeley and Judy Finnegan, and more recently Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford).

You have to wonder how confident Nine can be that Tom is the answer to the hosting problem given the show is consistently rating third in his hometown of Melbourne with him in the chair. If the locals aren’t tuning in why would the rest of Australia.

Maybe they see Melbourne as an opportunity. Having a Melbourne face will help although Sarah is from there too. The show feels more NRL than AFL so it always feels like its not angled toward Melbourne viewers.

I think Nine would be naive to believe viewers would flock to the show overnight just for Tom. Any team they put in place is going to take time and some campaigning to get a strong footing.

Part of the problem is the conten itself, it screems Sydney rather than a national show. Once they get the content right and more national, the show will be able to suit the rest of the country better.
