Today (2020-Feb 2025)

Yeah he was in studio yesterday then left the show after 9am

Can’t tell if he’s jet lagged or drunk (or just excited?). At any rate, amateur hour with the microphone situation having the guests having to lean in to be heard. Looks and sounds terrible.

He’s just typical Karl Stefanovic. Full of adrenalin.

This Sunday.

Probably a wise and safe choice there, if this is true. Congratulations on her new gig. She works well with the team

I’m quite happy with that choice, glad to see her being rewarded after a long period of hard work on the NRL & Tennis coverage, great personality for Breakfast TV too!

So Karl is the only guy left?

And Roz Kelly too. She did a great job filling in for Alex when he’s away over the years. These ladies are great, intelligent & professional journalists.

They have Tim and Dickie too

Danika Mason named Alex Cullen’s Today show replacement

It’s one of the prized roles in morning television. Now Channel 9 has named dumped host Alex Cullen’s replacement.

Danika Mason has been appointed the new sports presenter of Nine’s Today show.

Nine’s NRL sideline sports reporter has beaten out the more experienced Nine weekend sports newsreader Roz Kelly to win the prized seat vacated last month following the sacking of Alex Cullen.

Cullen was stood down after accepting a $50,000 payment from Melbourne entrepreneur Adrian Portelli for spruiking the businessman, aka “The Lambo Guy”, during a cross from Nine’s Australian Open tennis coverage.

Nine is expected to announce Mason’s appointment on Friday.

The network has spent the past month testing candidates for Cullen’s role.

Good they didn’t go with Roz, she’s too much of an asset to the rest of the network.

No

Good to have Danika Mason promoted to this. She has been great as part of Nine’s NRL (and tennis) coverage. Will she start as early as next week? Or do a few weeks more of her current role, then move in?

Probably next week when she’s back from Vegas.

Danika Mason’s roving reporting around the grounds at Melbourne Park during the prime time sessions of the Australian Open is fantastic, since day dot too IIRC. And of course over the years at TCN and WWOS’ NRL coverage. Well deserved. And could hopefully hold the position for many years, look to Mark Beretta.

Erin Molan who? Yvonne Sampson who?

And Roz Kelly, all the same goes for her as well and I’m sure she’s still well regarded, she’d technically still be higher than Mason anyway wouldn’t she, being an anchor on multiple network shows such as WWOS like the tennis including AO, Sports Sunday, Nine News weekends to name a few.
