Today (2020-Feb 2025)

Cost would absolutely be the reason for doing it from Sydney, using existing resources.

Why is it odd?

I’m assuming it’s cheaper to present it from Sydney.

The ad sounds like the entire show is coming from Perth

So Lara’s role now is to solely present the Perth news inserts? Or is she doing stuff for the east coast markets too?

Does Perth get its own early news bulletin?

No - they get the national 5am news.

That’s the idea…

Seems there is also a 6:30 bulletin. This morning the update was not just local stories and included a live cross to LA for a report on the avalanche.

How often are the updates? Every hour?

It seems they are at 6:30 and 7:30 am.

The 7am news is followed by a dedicated Perth weather report.

Good move. US breakfast shows have local weather inserts for decades

It’s really good to hear Lara pronounce all the names in the weather correctly. The way I’ve heard many eastern staters say Mandurah is weird e.g. man-JOO-rah, instead of MAN-drah. (I’m from WA, but have lived in NSW for 14 years.)

Sunrise used to do it, they’d have the schitck then a bumper and into a localised forecast.

So glad they have brought back Today Perth. A local Perth presenter would be better, but anything is better than delayed irrelevant news.

That’s a pathetic story and really poorly written. Punctuation missing and if Jayne’s quote is correct, really poor English on her part.

Yeah. What she should have said was “I’m still shooketh”. :joy:

Alright, so that probably means then Weekend Today will be in-studio from TCN North Sydney this Sunday? Even if tennis themed / special edition for the Aus Open start. With question marks around next week (Mon-Fri) ATM.

Yeah I guess so. It’s the fill in hosts this weekend. Then Clint, Jayne and Sophie will be In Melbourne next weekend.
