Personally, I would get someone like Lara Vella to present all the metro local windows from TCN. So, you wouldn’t need a presenter in each state or studio crews. They currently have CoS, producers and 1-2 reporters and camera crews in each capital. So maybe hiring one or two more producers to search for local stories might only be necessary. @tv_lee I appreciate your point, but I think local stations have grown since then and a more capable of a 12 hour output.
I personally think it’d only be worth having local windows during Today (which I think is an extremely good idea) if they were live & locally presented.
The local news window attempts by Sunrise and Wake Up probably failed in part because they were all (or mostly) pre-recorded from a central location. In this day and age regular viewers would notice obviously recorded breakfast time updates, especially if snippets of them are posted on social media feeds.

They were pre recorded from Sydney and could not have felt less local, live or natural. They were so awkward, forced into the break and were obvious to anyone that they were not local. So yea, bad example

Bethan Yeoman is joining the show as Reporter/Producer based in Sydney, for the past two years she was reporting on 9 News Western Victoria from Ballarat. In recent months she was doing some shifts on the Melbourne bulletin and some reporting from Melbourne for Today.

So Karl is in Hawaii and Annette Sharp’s assertion that he didn’t fill in on 2GB’s afternoon show for all of last week because he wasn’t up to the task is a load of horse shit? I don’t believe it.

Sharp makes up a lot of stuff. She gets a lot of scoops, but I don’t think it makes up for the rubbish she writes.
