Monday (27.08.2018): Tim Gilbert is co-hosting with Georgie today, in addition to presenting sport, as Karl is off sick. Stevie Jacobs is presenting the weather, as has been mentioned, this week.
Surely, they don’t think Tim will rate/be better than Sylvia. At least they could get a newsreader. There is a reason he rarely co-hosts.
Melbourne definitely used to be a Nine town, but I think as AFL becomes more ingrained as Seven’s thing it’s changing - Seven has the sport they love on it. Cricket on Seven will only cement that impression.
I think Tim will be co-hosting, as Sylvia wouldn’t have been involved in the production meetings on Friday.
I’m not sure about cricket cementing that position. Melbounians love the Australian Open in Melbourne, which will soon be on 9.
Could’ve been late notice that Karl was sick and too late to arrange for Deb or Lara to come in,and easier just to put Tim in host chair this morning.
I wonder if Natalia is feeling nervous? Cause Steve would clearly want his job back.
She might be… but Nine should at least offer Stevie the weekend role on a permanent basis.
Now we know he only left the weekday role so he could move away in an attempt to save his marriage, now he is living back in Sydney and sharing custody of his children l doubt he would want to go back to full time because of the travelling that is needed for the role.
When it’s out on location it’s not really a weather report, it’s more infomercial with the weather tacked on the end.
It’s never been a proper weather forecast it’s always been about the location on brekky tv.

Broadcasting outdoors in Canberra in the middle of winter was not a good idea.
They could do a lot worse than Timmy Gilbert as Karl’s replacement. I actually think he’s very good.
No wonder Today’s ratings are in the doldrums when they disrespect viewers by feeding them bullshit about Karl being “sick”. My boss would require some answers if I called in sick after the weekend and he discovered social media posts of me swanning around Griffith with my girlfriend and family members, unless love sickness is an acceptable reason to miss work these days.
The Karl sideshow needs to end if Nine wants to save Today. They need to move him on and appoint someone whose life isn’t a soap opera being played out in the media every day. Appointing someone with commitment to the show and chemistry with the co-hosts would be a good start. I seldom watch the show but caught the interview about the Prisoner reunion. The quip Karl made during the intro to the segment made it clear he doesn’t want to be there.
Easy to get a medical certificate these days, just head into the local chemist. Karl might have popped in to get one, for his hangover?
They did a IG Live a few weeks ago for a good 10-15 mins after the show with Karl leading the camera around and answering questions. He said they wanted to do more of it but they haven’t done it since.
I’d like to see Karl do a livestream of his whole day. I think it could work, and they could show highlights on Today. He could go old school and put a camera on his head like this.
Peter said on social media he is back at work tomorrow. Could he be filling in for Karl?
