I definitely agree with you, the set, presentation and graphics are all off, especially the graphics. Disgusting. I really like that set that had an apartment feel to it a few years back. Breakfast sets today are too flashy fore mornings
You do wonder if ABC and Today had better sets, whether their ratings would increase quite significantly . . .
I don’t know if viewers choose their breakfast show because of sets…
Well I would say sets/presentation and hosts would be the greatest impact on viewer choice . .
Seven News Sydney increased ratings overnight when they switched back to the live backdrop.
Do viewers chose what to watch based solely on the set? No…but it does play an important role in setting the mood for the show, as much as the presenters, graphics etc.
I’m the opposite. To me, Karl is sometimes a bit of dick most of the times which is more than enough for me to switch off Nine for Sunrise or ABC News Breakfast. The rest of the team are great on the other hand. If we’re talking about content, then the most I would say is Today is slightly better than Sunrise, whereas WS is miles ahead of WT, which is filled with nothing but rubbish IMO.
But hey, that’s the great part about MS. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
The day that both Sunrise and Today are split up into local editions for each state will be a glorious one for Australian TV.
But until/unless that happens, I would highly recommend giving both of the biggest breakfast shows a miss.
Sorry but I would have to disagree. There are benefits to doing it at a state-based level but the investment needed to put together 5 shows in separate cities every morning would surely not be repaid. I just can’t see it happening.
I’d rather keep the national breakfast shows than substitute lower quality local productions. It would end up much like the Nine News regional news situation in NSW with viewers preferring to see a professional better-resourced production.
I think they’ve all turned into a bit of a joke and prefer to spend my mornings asleep.

Imagine what a QLD edition of Today would be like!
GOOD MORNING ITS MONDAY THE 28TH OF AUGUST 2017. I’AM ALISON ARIOTTI & I’am Darren Curtis… great to have your company this morning…
I can also imagine Paul Burt as weatherman for a QLD edition of Sunrise
Covering all the big stories like house fires, car accidents, petrol prices and whose cows wandered off into the neighbour’s property.
Alison would certainly make a great alarm
I didn’t even realise they had an alarm app
I forgot that they still had the app.
IIRC it was released in 2013???
Please kill me now.
