They should just shut down - I will put that there
This venture has been a massive failure.
Obviously it’s meeting some part of @Ahron’s goals - I’d be interested to hear from him.
Probably just the money tbh
if it’s still operating, and making money is it a failure?
If there is no audience then yes, that is a failure. IMO.
That’s the thing: it might be a failure in the eyes of everyone else, but as long as @Ahron is seeing it as a success, then that’s all that matters.
again, if it’s making a profit, then it’s succeeding as a business right?
I suppose so. There was so much hype (on here!) when it launched that I guess I feel disappointed that it hasn’t succeeded in the way I hoped it would.
The target audience isn’t you or I. The target audience is businesses. The main product is these ‘interviews’/advertorials they put on. The whole ‘news channel’ thing is just to give the appearance of a legitimate news organisation. It’s not the main part of Ticker’s business model.
(No offence to Ahron or anyone else at Ticker, but honestly I think @Leo_Puglisi6 does a better job at running a news service, and you haven’t even finished high school!)
I would be interested to know what businesses use Ticker for a source of news though?
They wouldn’t…they’d use Fox Business, ausbiz, Bloomberg: the list goes on.
I should have clarified. When I said Ticker’s target audience was businesses, I didn’t mean as a source of news… rather their aim is for businesses to hire them as, effectively, advertisers.
But again, for this business model to work you need some demographic to tune in. Is it really worth (long term) for businesses to invest in something where no one watches?
Well clearly they’re expanding carriage onto more platforms so some people must be watching.
There must be some analytics going on to know who’s watching.
Someone upthread explained that the idea is for businesses to pay them for advertorials so that when asked, they can say ‘hey, we’re legit, we’ve been on the news’.
And they definitely seems to have completely dumped any sense of being a rolling news channel that covers breaking news now - it’s really just all sponsored content, a few interviews that may or may not be related to the biggest story of the day and then replays of docos
Still more of a news channel than Sky News, though!
(Before any of the Sky fans bite my head off, that’s a joke… in part.)
