One observation from the weather segment - it was a bit disappointing to see such a Hyperlocal story about La Nina related to Melbourne when similar forecasts have been made for other parts of Australia (and as part of the same ‘event’)
Small observation, the font used here looks remarkably similar to the ABC’s sans original font.
Set looks real good today but the in studio audio is still shocking.
Have to say that Holly has come a long way in the last few months since she started off reporting and presenting, she was very green back then but seems more comfortable now.
Agree!
I watched on Monday, she’s come along way over the last couple months.
@Ahron in front of the large screen looks great! Maybe when this happens the desk can be removed so both people are standing? And the desk can be wheeled back in when it’s sit down. Really liking this set tho
Does Ticker still do sports news shows?
I was just wondering, Fetch could do with an Aussie news channel. What are the chances of this happening I wonder?
Ticker would be a great fit and goes with their goal of being on as many devices as possible.
The only other options out there are ausbiz and maybe the ABC News in 90 Seconds channel.
Already on 7Plus: but I agree could be its own streaming channel, even for free.
That’s just a YouTube channel. Even if you did it the same way they do their 7Plus channel (for example) there’d be no way to make sure the news was not out of date.
Also Smart TVs. Samsung has a whole bunch of free channels like Bloomberg and Rialto (NZ channel).
I’m still trying to get my head around how news centric this channel is. Surely having a reporter in each major Australian city would be a good start?
Ahron has stated before it isn’t solely a news channel, more a Business/News channel that isn’t done just for Australian’s, also has an international audience. That is why they don’t have reporters in each city across the country. That’s not what Ticker is about.
Well fair enough but Sydney and Brisbane are the ANZ/International headquarters for many companies. Surely having a reporter on the ground in each covering this would be something?
Presumedly they hired someone for Brisbane from the discussions here a few weeks ago?
I take it it’s more closer to CNBC than MSNBC if you need to compare it to something?
It’s closer to Cheddar News than anything else.
I’m sure Ahron would like it on Fetch anyway. It would be a good local addition for content.
Yeah it’s been described as a “business lifestyle” channel too, before all those shows were axed.
As for the international audience, I think they’ve tried to become a fully global channel but have had their focus on NSW state politics for the past few days or so.
As they describe themselves:
So this is why I’m confused. They’ll go full bolt with NSW State Politics which anyone outside NSW/Australia wouldn’t understand but are still chasing an international audience. Also politics is great but how’s that related to technology and business?
I’m also interested to know how they’re covering NSW politics without an actual Reporter based at Macquarie Street?
Yeah I don’t see why they’d do that - an international outlet like CNN International, BBC World News, etc wouldn’t likely mention it, let alone cover it this much
If a network swings towards a particular party, that could be the reason why. Just because it’s not a big tv network doesn’t mean it will be balanced.
