“LIVE TO ERIN RAMSEY” probably should have been something like “RICARDO WINS ITALY GP” or something. It’s not really that much of a hook to me. Anyway, the new titles are great! And the new studio!
All I can think of when I see the new ticker set.
Ticker’s presentation is generally pretty good but not to my personal taste. However, the desks are always so dodgy.
The video is poor quality on my device but the audio still sounds awful is it better in a good quality stream?
I like it!
But I think they should take the chairs away when people are not sitting there. It would look much cleaner and that is what most TV news programmes do.
I agree. The set looks good, the desk lets it down IMO.
I thought I was watching the bbc for a moment. Set looks nice but the seats need to go when not being used.
Looks good, but agree on the desk. Really let’s it down IMO.
Agree moving the unused seats would be a good start.
Completely agree - get rid of the chairs. It makes the set/ desk look smaller.
Hey all thanks for the feedback. The desks are designed to be bumped in and out for different shows. We are replacing our main camera 1 this week with a better one which can handle the LED screen better. That will give us the flexibility to have our anchos standing more and the desks to be out of the set unless we need them for sit down interviews.
Good point re the chairs though, an easy fix in the meantime.
As you may appreciate, a million things go into a set like this. @TVHead check your internet quality. We have an adaptive stream which detects how good your internet is and then adjusts to suit.
Seems like a very good pick up.
I’m assuming San Francisco is now out of the question?
Also, what time will she be on air?
I’m not one to critique but I walked past Ticker today (for an essential reason) and there doesn’t seem to be any proper signage, just an A4 sheet of paper, so any proper signage to come? An old school style Neon sign might be cool!
Yeh the building management are sorting signage. Everything… takes… forever.
Still keen on SF! Aiming for 20 international reporters at least. I don’t think you can cover the vastness of America with just one bureau.
Veronica is on live in the morning Aust time, but then through the day with look lives and live when big news breaks.
Simon our UK reporter does 5 & 6pm. Jackson live from Singapore throughout the day.
Looking for more correspondent as we speak.
We have a weather presenter starting next week, plus new segments on tech, entertainment and finance kicking off too.
While I’m here. An announcement from us tonight. We are partnering with Reuters!
Journalism is in our blood. And as we build bureaus around the world, we also want to extend our coverage with Reuters live content and reporters, who will be appearing on Ticker.
Is the plan to expand bureaus across Australia or just internationally?
What happens if you need someone in let’s say Brisbane on a major news event. Do you just use someone in Melbourne doing a voice over instead?
It’s a good question and one I grapple with daily.
Historically, there are two choices. Focus on domestic news, which in a news channel world means competing directly against Sky and ABC. Both very good at what they do.
Or there’s going global, like Al J, CNN, BBC, TRT RT.
I’ve worked for a few of them and understand their mentality. Historically, it’s based on tech. Terrrestrial network still think like their tower is on a hill. Cable/Satellite operators think about their footprint.
I look at it from where we are today. That news is literally in the palm of your hand.
So just because we are growing overseas doesn’t mean we don’t think local. Channel 7 Melb has about 20 stringers all over the city. Imagine having something like all over the world, with that level of coverage.
There’s a saying in Australia - “we’re not here to f*ck spiders”.
But a spiders web is more attractive.
Thanks for your reply. Maybe a balance of both?
I know for example a Radio Journalist based in Brisbane who is itching to try some TV stuff (well at least something on camera) but doesn’t get a look in. Is there opportunities for someone like them at Ticker in the future?
I think Brisbane is proving itself as an international city for sure. So yeh, hook em up with me ahron@tickernews.co
Dad lives in Mooloolaba. A Bris reporter might get me back in the will!
