You’re thinking in news terms.
Why would they? Asia is far more important to Australia than those two declining countries.
Weird font choice. They gonna use the chopsticks font when they hire a spotty teen in Hong Kong?
Yep. Correspondent is more appropriate wording.
That didn’t really answer my question.
If that were true, networks like Nine would have correspondents there. I feel like news content from the US and UK appeals to the masses more than Asia. Especially considering the US is essentially the most powerful country in the world alongside China.
No they don’t.
And why would Ticker want to follow what the other networks are doing?
Hey all., we chose Singapore as we believe China/Asia is an important story right now for our audience.
As mentioned in the press release, it’s the first of many bureaus we have planned, including the UK and the US.
It won’t be a freelancer and a cameraman.
The bureau will include an anchor in a purpose built studio who will present Ticker News for several hours a day as well as reporting into our other bulletins. They will also travel the region and anchor/report on location. And we will do the same in other countries in different time zones too. It’s not just a reporter with a mic block.
It’s why we rebuilt our newsroom and Studio 1 last week, to create more space. We now have over 20 full time staff, with more to come.
Pretty sure nine does/did have someone based in either Singapore or Jakarta.
The seven and nine US and UK bureaus are simply content farms for celebrity news in LA or celebrity news coming from Buckingham palace. I wouldn’t exactly be holding those networks up as a guide on what do to - they both deliver lowest common denominator stuff.
Yes they had Renee Henry I think in SE Asia but since Covid I don’t think so.
Sky News’ New Zealand correspondent Jackson Williams has joined Ticker and will now be based in Singapore.
Guess they didn’t take the Singapore office as an opportunity to add some racial diversity to the team.
Surely theyd boost their credentials in Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth before expanding overseas?
Seems odd to have Overseas bureaus first for a channel which is primarily for an Australian audience?
They say they’re an international news outlet - even the lower third said it - but you can even see on their website that most of their audience is in Australia.
how long has ticker gaming been airing?? as someone whose partner is a gamer and I am a casual gamer I think this is great:D normally I used to finish my voluntary job at 2 pm but today only did an hr so actually caught it @Ahron this is a great show:D
but why the name change??? it is it because its now more focused on gaming pop culture then popculture???
Does Foxtel Now offer any other channels that aren’t on the Foxtel Cable or Satellite EPG?
They really need to iron out the bugs at home first before venturing overseas. Audio anyone?
Hope the new facilities have decent sound.
Impressive to see this build over the last 18 months.
Where is the new location?
The sound is 50% why we are moving. It’s an old building near busy trams. Not much we can do. So we move.
I remember when you first announced you were moving into the Richmond building, you were quite proud of being not too far from GTV9 in the unique building but fairly quickly you’ve outgrown the space and now time to take the next step.
