Have been meaning to ask this: Given its WBD connections, can Three opt for CNNâs rolling coverage in events like US election and now Pope Francisâ death? Or has any news reporting on Three sourced out strictly to Stuff, so they canât sub it easily?

22/04/2025: ThreeNews has acknowledged about breaching standards of the BSA about Action for Smokefree 2025 (ASH) in their reports late July last year. Both of them were upheld.
Laura Tupou led the apology in the lead C Block.

I would have thought they could but have simply chosen not to, much like TVNZ, News isnât a large priority for the NZ operation anymore.
Stuff will only produce what WBD pay them for, which is why breaking news will be very hard for Stuff to cover on Three. I imagine local WBD management will have little authority to sign off extra spending for one off news programming.
An another note I see former Newshub reporter Adam Hollingworth filing one of the reports on the popes passing on tonightâs bulletin.
