Apparently in typical Nine promo style this is “the television experience of the year” “the likes of which you’ve never seen before” in a “highly anticipated news show”. - give me a break!!

In every inspirational episode, people from across the country will pledge to change their lives by “this time next year” – whether it is to overcome a setback, find love, reunite with a relative or even achieve a world record.
Then, unlike anything seen before on Australian TV, the result of each year-long story will be revealed in an instant.
Hosted by Karl Stefanovic, many of the stories take unexpected turns over the course of the year, and some of the physical transformations are truly incredible. Even Karl is unaware of the result until the contributors walk back in.
“I met people aged from five through to their seventies, but all of them made pretty big pledges. You’ll definitely be moved by their stories, and their battle to achieve their goals is awe-inspiring. Some were successful, some weren’t. But they all have an amazing story to tell, and you’ll see just what they accomplished over the year in the blink of an eye.
“As the name suggests, This Time Next Year was a year in the making – even more when you take into account pre and post-production. It’s hugely ambitious and I’m really proud to be bringing these extraordinary stories to our audience.”

In every inspirational episode people from across the country will pledge to change their lives by “this time next year” – whether it is to overcome a setback, find love, reunite with a relative or even achieve a world record.
Hosted by Karl Stefanovic, many of the stories take unexpected turns over the course of the year, with the result of each story revealed in an instant.
“To see the contributors walk through one door and then reappear moments later through another door to share their year-long journey is a first for Australian TV. It’s time travel like you’ve never seen before,” he said.
“Some contributors were successful, some weren’t. But they all have an amazing story to share and many of the transformations are truly awe-inspiring. Even I wasn’t aware of the outcome until I met them back on stage. This Time Next Year is a show I’m proud to be a part of.”
In the premiere episode, meet Sequoiah and Luke, a young couple from Gawler in South Australia who are determined to have a baby despite difficulties conceiving and several failed attempts at IVF.
Country farmer Brad from NSW will venture out on the dating scene in an attempt to find true romance for the very first time – but what secret has he been hiding?
Joshua, a five-year-old child genius from Sydney with an IQ similar to Albert Einstein’s, amazes Karl with a pledge that most adults would find incredibly challenging.
Jennifer and Darren from the Blue Mountains in NSW will pledge to shed 100 kilograms between them in the hope that they will look amazing at their wedding.
Leaving her office job and becoming a stuntwoman is an ambition Mel from Sydney is determined to achieve, but is she ready for the gruelling physical demands ahead?
And can Emma from Brisbane overcome a crippling injury to get up from her wheelchair and walk again?

This time next year Karl will have managed to reverse the ageing process and have much less grey in his hair.

Haha, we noticed this too, apart from that, a really great show. I was only expecting maybe 2 people’s stories a night with long pointless backstories. But I’m glad they kept it quick and straight to the point.

I haven’t seen much of this show, but do many/any of the people fail to accomplish their wish?
A friend of mine was approached to go on the show and apparently had filmed the initial episode, however through no fault of their own they were unsuccessful in achieving their dream. They were then told by the producers that they were not required for the follow up show. Unbeknownst to my friend, Channel 9 had filmed multiple people who were in the same situation as my friend, and the one that went to air was someone who was successful in their quest.
The show has been renewed for a second season, but it may not air until 2019.
Sunday Herald Sun reports six days have been put aside at Fox Studios in Sydney from February 26 for the taping of the second season.
The show is offering $1000 cash prize to the audience next week to attract more people to see the filming
