Whilst in London the week the queen died i went to 3 shows

1 - Wicked. this would probably be the 9th or 10th time I’d seen it and i love it. its back in Brisbane in September and I’ll probably see it 3 or 4 times

2 - Hamilton. This was actually the night the queen died. I was worried it would be cancelled which would have disappointed me as i had front row seats. when I brought the ticket there was no news on it coming to Brisbane so I decided to see it in London. Got a little lost at times with the lyrics - if i was going to go and see it again I’d listen to the soundtrack beforehand

3 - Back to the future. BTTF was amazing. I love the movies and came in with some relatively high hopes as it won the Olivier Award for best new musical. This not only met my expectations but exceeded them. The way they did the time travel with the Delorian was amazing and the finale with the Delorian was great (won’t give it away). if there is an Aussie production i have no hesitation in travelling (most likely to Sydney or Melbourne) to see it again

Hadestown will premiere in Melbourne at the Her Majesty’s Theatre in May 2025.

Hadestown broke Theatre Royal Sydney box office records when it went on sale earlier this year for the Sydney season, and Melbourne audiences are expected to snap up tickets for the cult musical with the same enthusiasm.

Hadestown’s Sydney season begins in February 2025.

As first reported in Sunday Age today.

The City of Melbourne owns 51% share in the theatre with the Victorian Government holding the rest.

Seems like this is a reimagining of the former Performing Arts Museum that was at the same site. It was around in the 80s and 90s, not sure when it closed.

New play Soldier Boy, based on the novel by Anthony Hill, opens at Theatre Works in St Kilda, Melbourne tonight.
