A shame they didn’t update the title setting. I found last season it didn’t really scream Melbourne until the end shot - they have reused it again sadly.
Also seems like they have given up on their Youtube account. It hasn’t been updated in 3 years. Still has the cast images from the last season all over it too.

Gamble will be guest quizmaster on Have You Been Paying Attention? on 10 tonight.

Does anyone know what the actual filming timeline of the season was (and if they filmed for as long as planned to give us 10 episodes)?

I assume back in April when the cast was announced that filming had commenced or was close to it. We then went into lockdown for those first couple of weeks of June - so they obviously would’ve had to halt and then had 3 week window post that albeit with some restrictions. Then we had the next mini-lockdown where every article seems to suggest that filming wrapped up the week following that (you know that 8 day period we had before our long haul lockdown). So if that was the planned ending they are very lucky.

They did have an exemption for a lot of the lockdown apparently. So filming continued.
Jacqui and Cherry actually did an interview on ABC radio a week or so ago. Was great.

What could they film during lockdown? Since nothing was open.

Drinking sessions via Zoom?

Well generally speaking if television shows are already in production when a lockdown happens they can continue. I just thought being a reality show going to different locations that it would come to a halt. If they did continue I’m sure it was still limited in some way but maybe they could have done some dinners at specific locations or been able to go away somewhere together for a few days so they were all at one location? Or they could have even built it into the storyline like some of the US versions (showing some self footage of them at home, in parks or going out for walks together and stuff during lockdown).

I find the promos for this season don’t really show us much of what is coming. For me the thing that has hyped me up is this 24/7 RHOM channel on Foxtel at the moment. I keep flicking it on at different random times and love catching the odd bits of previous seasons here and there. Must say though that it’s made me realise even more how much I’m going to miss Gina and Lydia! I also love seeing Chyka again, would have loved someone like her to come back. I am open minded about new cast mates thouh, it might be the fresh start we need.

I’ve seen Episode 1, and was rather disappointing (this may be because I had high hopes, but the casting feels wrong. You definitley miss the former cast members, there is little organic connection between most the cast.

I feel like with a predominantly new cast though, the first ep was always going to be clunky.

Once you see it you will understand, Matchbox have successfully introduced new cast before, the issue is it feels very very forced. More so than you would ever see in the US/UK Versions.

If you are a fan of the show, I dare say you will be calling for the return of the previous cast (even if you didn’t like them).

Would you say there’s too many new cast members and that makes it feel like a totally different show?

I would say that each cast member looks great on paper, but as an ensemble it doesn’t work. You need the contrasting personalities. Also most of these shows they film the season and then edit the story lines into episodes, this feels like they are trying to film episode by episode.

Ah damn. Sounds like we could be entering the last season then.

Ah I see.

I wonder if it is a case of COVID impacting it maybe - being able to make it more organic?
