Bruce Lehrmann has lost his appeal against a Federal Court ruling that found on the balance of probabilities he had raped Brittany Higgins in 2019.
The former Liberal staffer took Network Ten and journalist Lisa Wilkinson to court over an episode of The Project in which Brittany Higgins said she was raped in Parliament House, although she did not name the man she accused.
i think they will eventually aim for The Project vibe in the slot without the name/branding to avoid the contract with Rove.
Yep, I think this is likely. The branding is a double edged sword anyway, it had its loyal fans, but the Murdoch media smear campaigns did its damage and a large portion of the population would never watch it.
A name like 10 Tonight could be simple enough for that
Iâd avoid using 10 in the name of any show. No need to be linked to the flop that is 10 News+..
If they donât go back to The Project then go for something completely new.
Awww. The Project has been quietly âbumpedâ to the history pages - away from from the tv news and current affairs topic.
Something that I was certainly expecting to happen at some point. I believe Network 10 wonât be bringing back The Project whatsoever so it makes sense this thread becomes a place to reminisce on past episodes and/or best bits/highlights of/from The Project, consider this a nostalgia fest now.
To kick things off in this new era of The Project thread, I fondly remember this opening intro sequence very well. From 2012.
The appeal judges disagreed that " there was a lack of reasonableness on the part of Wilkinson."
Appeal judges addressed the qualified privilege defence
The appeal judgment addressed Leeâs finding that there was a lack of reasonableness on the part of Wilkinson.
The trio ârespectfullyâ disagreed with elements of Leeâs deliberations about Wilkinsonâs journalism and said he appeared not to have considered Wilkinsonâs supporting evidence, including Higginsâ report of rape in Parliament House to the Australian federal police and questions asked by Ten of witnesses before broadcast.
âThere were matters supporting the account given by Ms Higgins that she had been sexually assaulted on the couch in the Ministerâs office to which his Honour did not refer in considering reasonableness,â they said.
