The Project đŸȘŠ

Bruce Lehrmann has lost his appeal against a Federal Court ruling that found on the balance of probabilities he had raped Brittany Higgins in 2019.

The former Liberal staffer took Network Ten and journalist Lisa Wilkinson to court over an episode of The Project in which Brittany Higgins said she was raped in Parliament House, although she did not name the man she accused.

i think they will eventually aim for The Project vibe in the slot without the name/branding to avoid the contract with Rove.

Yep, I think this is likely. The branding is a double edged sword anyway, it had its loyal fans, but the Murdoch media smear campaigns did its damage and a large portion of the population would never watch it.

A name like 10 Tonight could be simple enough for that

I’d avoid using 10 in the name of any show. No need to be linked to the flop that is 10 News+..

If they don’t go back to The Project then go for something completely new.

Awww. The Project has been quietly “bumped” to the history pages - away from from the tv news and current affairs topic.

Something that I was certainly expecting to happen at some point. I believe Network 10 won’t be bringing back The Project whatsoever so it makes sense this thread becomes a place to reminisce on past episodes and/or best bits/highlights of/from The Project, consider this a nostalgia fest now.

To kick things off in this new era of The Project thread, I fondly remember this opening intro sequence very well. From 2012.

The appeal judges disagreed that " there was a lack of reasonableness on the part of Wilkinson."

Appeal judges addressed the qualified privilege defence

The appeal judgment addressed Lee’s finding that there was a lack of reasonableness on the part of Wilkinson.

The trio “respectfully” disagreed with elements of Lee’s deliberations about Wilkinson’s journalism and said he appeared not to have considered Wilkinson’s supporting evidence, including Higgins’ report of rape in Parliament House to the Australian federal police and questions asked by Ten of witnesses before broadcast.

“There were matters supporting the account given by Ms Higgins that she had been sexually assaulted on the couch in the Minister’s office to which his Honour did not refer in considering reasonableness,” they said.

The Project is over 16 and can stay on social media

Veteran Australian TV presenter Sarah Harris is embarking on a shock career move, and is set to join Ricki-Lee Coulter and Tim Blackwell on Nova’s Sydney breakfast radio show.

called it

Where did you call it exactly?

That’s not “calling it”. You posted a photo of Sarah when she was a guest with Fitzy and Wippa. This was at a time when Kate Ritchie still had not returned to Breakfast. You also posted a photo with Beau when therd was spdculation on who might be in the Breakfast team at Triple M.

In no way did you “call” Sarah being a newsreader on the Rikki-Lee and Tim show.

I called breakfast radio

You also made other suggestions for her after The Project was axed. Not difficult to make many predictions and then one turns out to be true
well, sort of, true.

why you so pressed about my accurate prediction? at that time Fitzy and Wippa didnt announce they were leaving and same with Joel and their show going to breakfast. fact is she is on Nova breakfast.

Because you claim to have predicted something that you clearly did not.

Interesting on radio today when they announced her they said “we had to check with The Project to make sure it wasn’t coming back”

Sarah’s response was “oh that’s a DNR situation”
(DNR = do not resuscitate)

Sarah discussed The Project’s axing in her interview with Stellar, which is published today.

I always felt a little bit like the interloper on The Project, even though I was [co-host] for two-and-a-half years. There were people who had been on that show from the very start, from the heyday of beautiful Carrie Bickmore and Waleed Aly winning Logies. So when the news came through, I was really sad.

But I kind of became a bit of a “mum”, especially to the younger staff. I’d been through that as a kid myself. I was 19 when my first show was axed. And when you’re in it, it’s really hard to think anything else will come along. What you learn, though, is that it’s just a moment in time. And the next thing that comes along is often better or it’s a reset or a pivot, and it’s all going to be OK.

I’m of the opinion that you don’t get angry when a show is axed, you just be thankful that you were able to have the experience in the first place. I think people who watched The Project had grown up and their lives had changed – it was on air for 16 years. They might have started watching the show in their mid-20s and now they’ve got a mortgage and kids and they’re not watching TV as much as they used to. I don’t think there was anything sinister at play, and you have to be realistic about the commercial realities of what we do. If something doesn’t work, you have to think: that was a tough blow, the ego is a bit hurt, but we move on.

Interesting seeing Waleed working on The Project socials content.
Wonder if it’s a one-time thing or something is happening BTS
Also who is ‘presenting’ The Project’s reels?
