A great speech from Waleed

How many episodes did you actually watch OR are you getting your information about the show from News Corp right wing media???

After 16 years, it’s lights out. What a finale, funny, moving, unforgettable moments. Hard to believe it’s really over. Feels like the end of something bigger than just a show. Free-to-air is changing fast. What a ride it’s been.

Not even Monday yet!

Sky News is woke everyone.

Thank you replying. While I can agree in some aspects I don’t think broadly labelling a show with “woke” defines the whole program.
I think tonight the packages highlight the positives it has actually done and yes while I don’t agree with all things they do, it seems rare for those who do label it woke, to acknowledge the contributions and the causes that they did champion and did good. That’s something I think that we fail to do these days.

We are talking about The Project.

By your definition, this also includes Fox/Sky.

This might be a topic for another thread, but not here.

I’m not going to stop you from having your opinion - you’re allowed to have it - but this is one of those things I can’t get my head around. Using Indigenous place names literally impacts no one, so why not be a little bit nicer to people who lived here before we did? And I’m a fifth-generation Aussie.

No one is being lynched for saying Melbourne.

It astounds me how members here refuse to accept that people don’t like this show. I don’t understand why that’s not okay?

Sarah barely said a word tonight.

Congratulations to the team for a wonderful and fitting final episode and 16 years of memories.

Exactly how you operated on 4BC then, champ?

And if using the factual Indigenous names for a place is hilariously considered far left, then it’s only accurate to say reactionary criticism of welcomes to country is far right. After all, what’s good for the goose is good for the gander.

Great final episode, they got everyone back. The after party will be a great time.

Was PVO scorched from the record? The only host to not appear at the finale, not even in any clips.

I drifted out probably mid last decade. Ten News lost me a bit earlier than that. Again, Network destroyed it.

I started to note some woke opportunism around that time and it just worse and worse.

Ten News, well that was also destroyed by Management. Probably the biggest loss to the whole Network after the 2000s. That ship has sailed, ratings have bottomed, zero chances now of going back to the good old days.

I think the criticism of those who come on here crying woke is that they never really have watched the program. They’re simply repeating talking points from various right wing outlets, many of which are just as guilty if not more so of policing what’s acceptable and what’s not.

People can not like it, but do you see people saying the same level when other shows have been cancelled? It has copped a lot of crap. In some areas I agree, in others I don’t.

And with that, goodbye to The Project. Sixteen years long. Finishing with a 90 minute edition.

What an incredible roller-coaster this show has been. International guests to our very own guests in Australia. The 7pm Project and The Project provided us hit-harded news, extraordinary interviews and incredible laughs. Yes there are controversial show. So it’s been interesting watching this little show started 16 years ago and now it became a phenomenon. A truly end of an era of LIVE TV for network ten.

And what I took between the lines of Waleed’s speech, the thing about Australia that made The Project possible has also been fading away as we become more like America.
