The Masked Singer

I would still expect that to change if it rates well.

It’s a risky move as the show will be up against AFL and NRL finals on the same night for most of October, including the AFL Grand Final on October 24. Keeping it on Thursdays means it will only clash once with the footy finals (Port Adelaide v Geelong tomorrow).

10 has been promoting the show’s debut on social media all day. This is one of the tweets.

Who’s watching it?.. This is pretty bloody good!! I know who three of the judges are and so far the performances have been great. Ken is perfect for the judging panel.

Feels grander than our version. that’s for sure. Very sleek.

Yep was thinking the same. It’s a lot sleeker than ours. I love that the clue packages are done as animations and when a judge guesses a name, they superimpose that guess onto the body of the costume.

Hopefully there’s a few things they can incorporate into the next AU season.

Was a great show!!!

I watched the first episode and the production standard is pretty high.
There were a few comments on Twitter about the studio audience. There was a disclaimer in the end credits about the use of virtual shots and past clips due to COVID-19. I think the producers are using shots of the audience from the past three seasons to create an impression of a full studio.
I find it strange that 10 did not put up any on-screen super or voiceover telling viewers that the show would continue tomorrow night. How would 10 expect viewers to tune in if they don’t look up TV guides in print or online?

It was promoted in the last add break in WIN territory.

I agree, the production was slicker then ours. The fact they actually stick to 60mins helps too.

And yet it felt like more was achieved in that 60 mins.

Such a great show.

Production was great. Masks were not as good as our version.

The owls have to be Donnie and Marie Osmond!

This is the first time in the show’s history that a celebrity unmasked him/herself without going to a vote. I am still surprised why Mickey decided to do that.

Clearly just a stunt.

See these are some of the things that I didn’t like about it. The show feels over edited and rushed. The clue packages with cartoons just jab out so much in a quick clip that I find I don’t really follow them or notice much of what is being said.

The thing that annoys me the most is how they’ve edited in a fake audience. Typical American show just wanting things to be like they were. It just makes the show seem fake when you see constant reactions that you know aren’t there. Instead of just acknowledging that there is no audience, they even faked that the audience is there voting.

I still mostly enjoyed it and as I’m not as invested in the US version maybe that’s a positive that it’s faster paced. I still feel like we get more out of the clues/judges/contestants in our version.

Obviously only agreed to do one episode…

I just realised with the 7:00 Saturday slot, they are putting this against Lip Sync Battle on their own network (7:30 on 10 Shake). I’m not sure this is the best choice. Surely 9:30ish after Gogglebox on Thursdays would be better?

I’d say Wednesday 8.30 is better considering they have nothing else but Bull repeats which wouldn’t rate any better.

Their Saturdays are still a pile of junk regardless.

is Saturdays a new ep or repeats?

New episodes on Saturday

It means we will be two days behind America.

They can’t air it on Wednesday as the show airs in America on Wednesdays which is noon Thursday AEST.
