The Loop

Just watching The Loop which I havent in a while and Scott is gone so they have Tanya Hennesy hosting with Liv. Those two are low key savage to each other in a passive aggressive way and I want to know if it’s their schtick or do they really hate each other?

It’s their schtick. Liv in TV Week described Tanya as her bestie and Tanya in Who Weekly described Liv as one of her best friends.

This Saturday is the final ever episode of The Loop.

What??? It’s been axed?

They posted on Facebook and Instagram that Saturday is the final ever episode. I can’t find anywhere else any previous mention of it.

I assume with Scott Tweedie leaving they must have thought that it’s time to put it to rest. Plus potentially with MTV Australia coming they have plans for other music shows? Who knows.

Surprised TBH. I’ve only seen bits of the show but it’s not a bad little production. The ratings must have been very low though considering it’s buried on a multichannel on Saturday mornings.

I used to watch it back in the day when Ash and Scott both did it but not do much in recent years. Although I always thought it deserved to be on Ten instead of all the repeats they air.

I agree. I think 10 could’ve had this on weekend mornings as an alternative to Sunrise/Today instead of encores and fishing shows which is a bit random first thing in the morning.

I hope Olivia Phyland and the other producers working on the show gets redeployed to other roles at the network.

Probably. Can’t imagine music video programs being a huge rater these days, since we can see just about all the clips online.

Also that’s another blow to 10 Peach’s already minimal number of first-run Australian content (which as far as I know, is Toasted TV, Crocamole, Totally Wild, Scope, Neighbours, Gamify, but correct me if there’s more).

Surely they would need a new show of some sort to fulfil quota obligations?

Keeping in mind the presenter departures of late (Elly “Awesome” left Toasted TV mid-last year, Scott Tweedie left The Loop around the end of last year, Lee Constable has left/is about to leave Scope), I’d probably be rather interested to know whether morale is currently all that good on the production/behind the scenes side of 10 Peach’s in-house productions!

Surely Liv can continue to host The Loop rather than axing the show.

That’s pretty much what happened to Video Hits 9 years ago. I was surprised Ten launched another music show soon after.

In the 90s/2000s these shows were big. Seven and Nine also had a few over the years, but then came MTV/Foxtel music channels, the internet, YouTube and streaming etc.

The only one that’s still going is Rage.

Did they just announce that guy was replacing Scott?

Nothing was confirmed just speculation.

I watch the Sat night encore occasionally. Always been a perfect timeslot for it. Shocked they have cut this, it really was a program that set the tempo for Peach.

The themes nights were good too. There have been a few older songs I never knew, which I liked, that I found from this. Admittedly I also switched away for 5/10 mins when they had some of the more recent junk they occasionally showed, but that is part of the territory on a younger skewing channel.

According to TV Tonight, re-runs of Becker, Raymond, Kings of Queens will replace The Loop on Saturday mornings

I think I’ll pass thanks.

After 421 episodes, The Loop went to air for the final time. The Loop Started on 28 Jan 2012 and concluded at 8 Feb 2020. When Scott tweedie departed 10, the writing was on the wall for this show. The Loop had recapped on the highlights during the past 8 years. After liv Phyland said goodbye, they played a final song for today. The final song played for today’s episode was Hello Goodbye from The Beatles. An end of an era for The Loop.

Or maybe Scott Tweedie already knew it was ending and made the move late last year.
