Sunday Herald Sun has confirmed an affair between Lyon and Brownlessâ ex-wife⌠A promo shoot for the show scheduled for this Tuesday has been cancelled.
Makes sense. Everything dripping out today seem to point towards a reason like that. A shame
yep that was what my post above was alluding to⌠itâs not going to be a very easy situation to address.
What a awkward situation.
Returns Thursday, March 10 at 8.30pm in AFL states according to TV Week.
Tonightâs season opener starts with James Brayshaw, Sam Newman and Billy Brownless sitting on three chairs in front of the audience tables, discussing the affair between Garry Lyon and Brownlessâ ex-wife.
DANE SWAN HEADS UP A HUGE FOOTY SHOW
Thursday 17 March at 8.30pm*
With only one week until the 2016 AFL Premiership Season kicks off, you cannot afford to miss The Footy Showâs star-studded lineup â and the return of one of Australiaâs most popular comedians â tomorrow night at 8.30pm on Channel Nine.
The Footy Show favourites Dane Swan and Nick Dal Santo head up this weekâs panel, and Dave Hughes makes his 2016 Footy Show debut, pulling no punches at the antics of some current players over the summer.
Fresh from signing a new five-year deal, Fremantle coach Ross Lyon stops by to give some insight into whatâs in store for the Dockers this year; award-winning newsbreaker Damian Barrett has all the latest footy news; and five top draftees have their Footy Show initiation, including number one pick, Jacob Weitering.
The Best in Footy Show segment starts off as AFL superstars Josh Gibson, Chris Dawes, Dane Swan, Tom Rockliff, David Armitage and Brendan Goddard and their dogs compete in an epic battle to determine just whose dog is the best. Plus another hilarious running of the Footy Show Stakes; and the audience gets a crack at Sam Newman in What the Foss.

Based on last few weeks, Billy Brownless is essentially doing Garry Lyonâs role now. Heâs now on every week, sits on the hosting side and walks in with Brayshaw for the introduction. Interesting
I think itâs highly unlikely Lyon will return
Thank God. Iâve hated his presenting style for years and canât believe an opportunity has come where Nine can get him off our screens forever.
Iâd much rather Garry Lyon returned then having Bill Brownless in the co-host chair all the timeâŚ
The advertiser has just announced that a former seven news reader is the new co-host of the footy show. She has been with the seven network for 13 years and is the Geelong female number one ticket holder! Rebecca Madern
Rebecca Madern has been announced as Lyonâs replacement,
Perhaps theyâre trying to find an Erin Molan or Yvonne Sampson type equivalent (who both do well with Nineâs NRL coverage) for the AFL Footy Show? Itâs never seemed to have had much of a female presence on air.
When is this show on? Is it only on in Victoria? And before you say it, I know I can watch it on 9NOW. Donât like sport but would attempt to watch this because of Bec.
Itâs a surprise that Bec is joining the show but lâm sure she will do well in hosting role.
Usually a delayed telecast that screens straight after the NRL Footy Show in NSW and Qld.
Pity that Nine could find a new presenter for the NRL Footy Show

NRL Footy Show
[/quote] Thanks. Isnât that on Wednesday now? After the NRL game you mean!
Here is the media release:
REBECCA MADDERN JOINS THE AFL FOOTY SHOW
Rebecca Maddern joins The Footy Show team on Thursday 7 April at 2016.
Channel Nine today announced Rebecca Maddern is joining the network as co-host alongside James Brayshaw on Australiaâs longest running AFL entertainment program, The Footy Show.
Maddern, an award-winning reporter who has an accomplished 15-year career in the media as a journalist and presenter, is excited to be joining The Footy Show team.
âI have been a fan of the show for many years and I am thrilled to have a new challenge that allows me the opportunity to use my footy knowledge and work alongside some of the best in the business,â said Maddern, who is also the Geelong Football Clubâs number one ticket holder.
Maddern started her career as a sports reporter for Triple M Melbourne. She rapidly worked her way up to read the radio news on some of the biggest stations in Melbourne, including Triple M and NOVA.
Maddern moved into television in 2002, working for the Seven Network, and quickly established herself as a first-rate reporter, winning one of journalismâs most prestigious awards in 2003, a Quill Award for her reporting of the Victorian bushfires.
She has hosted the 6.00pm news, been a correspondent for Sunrise, and handled presenting and reporting duties on a number of sporting events, including the Glasgow Commonwealth Games, The Australian Open, the Melbourne Cup, and the glitz and glamour of the AFL Brownlow Awards night.
Channel Nine Melbourneâs Managing Director, Ian Paterson, said: âThe Footy Show has been entertaining Australian audiences for 22 years and whilst its history has created an enormous legacy we think itâs now opportune to reset it for its long-term future. Having Rebecca come on board to co-host with her own perspective is a relevant decision, and weâre really excited at the prospect of what her dynamic personality will bring to the show.â
Channel Nine Melbourneâs Head of Production and Programming, Tim Cleary, said: âIâve always felt Rebecca was capable of hosting her own show. She loves footy, sheâs an accomplished journalist and presenter, and her personality and sense of humour suits the show. Weâre excited to have her fronting The Footy Show with James.â
