The Comedy Channel

Could this mean that Ten will show these shows after they are shown on Foxtel, similar to Gogglebox?

I wouldn’t think so, as they’re not a joint commission between the two companies like Gogglebox is and Common Sense will be.

Foxtel obviously just has ties with the Ten Network with their investment, so see advertising on the channels of Ten to be a good idea for some reason.

Just letting everyone know that the first episodes of Whose Line Is It Anyway? and Pacific Heat are now available to view on Foxtel GO.

Either of them any good?

Have just been catching up on Whose Line Is It and wow it is seriously bad. The set is great though, would be perfect for a proper late night or talk show:

Looks a bit like Rove’s final set.

###Last Week Tonight with John Oliver returns for a fourth season

From Monday 13 February at 9pm AEDT

Express from the US only on The Comedy Channel

The wait is almost over for (one of) HBO’s biggest Sunday night shows, Last Week Tonight with John Oliver – a satirical look at the week in news, politics and current events – Season 4 premieres exclusively on The Comedy Channel Mondays from February 13 at 9pm Express from the US and only Foxtel.

Last Week Tonight with John Oliver provides its likeable host with a unique platform to offer up his singular perspective and distinct voice to any number of social, political or existential issues. The show provides a deft combination of news, irreverence and humour, as hosted by one of TV’s true breakout stars. One of the funniest and most refreshing personalities to hit the TV scene, British-born John Oliver is an Emmy®-winning television personality who the New York Observer called, “the best thing to happen to late night since Colbert.”

Each episode draws upon an array of topical clips from recent news reports and other video sources, and an extended main story in which Oliver “rants” about a specific issue – particularly ones that may be under-covered in mainstream news. Last Week Tonight may also feature guest interviews, pre-taped segments and surprise appearances, all shot in New York within hours of airing on HBO and then on Foxtel Express from the US.

Self-deprecating British writer/comedian/actor, John Oliver spent over seven years as one of Jon Stewart’s most popular and controversial Daily Show correspondents before leaving in late 2013 to work with HBO on Last Week Tonight. Since its launch in 2014, Last Week Tonight with John Oliver has generated immense buzz since and is a darling of the critics winning numerous awards including from the Television Critics Association, Critic’s Choice, Emmys and a Peabody Award, among many other accolades over the years.

###Silicon Valley returns for a fourth season

Mondays from April 24 at 8.30pm AEST

Express from the US or stream instantly on Foxtel Play

From executive producers Mike Judge and Alec Berg comes a new season of Silicon Valley, the HBO comedy series that satires the big ideas and even bigger egos of U.S. tech mecca Silicon Valley. The HBO series returns to The Comedy Channel Mondays from April 24 at 8.30pm Express from the US only on Foxtel or stream instantly on Foxtel Play.

Richard Hendricks (Thomas Middleditch) and his team of socially awkward underdogs continue to claw their way toward tech fame and fortune, but in season four change is in the air. As the Pied Piper guys pursue their video-chat app, PiperChat, Richard has a hard time letting go of his dream to put his algorithm to better use. Dinesh (Kumail Nanjiani) flirts with notoriety while Gilfoyle (Martin Starr) looks on in amusement, Erlich (T.J. Miller) searches for his next big break, Jared (Zach Woods) attempts to pivot with the company, and Big Head (Josh Brener) enters the world of academia.

Over at Hooli, Gavin (Matt Ross) finds himself threatened by Jack Barker (Stephen Tobolowsky), while Monica (Amanda Crew) struggles to bounce back at Raviga after her fallout with Laurie (Suzanne Cryer).

Guests this season include Vanessa Marano (Switched at Birth) as a student encountered by Big Head; Tim Chiou (iZombie) as Ed Chen, Monica’s nemesis at Raviga; Phoebe Neidhardt (Notorious) as Mia, who takes an interest in Dinesh; Haley Joel Osment (Oscar® nominated for The Sixth Sense) as Silicon Valley’s new “it” kid; and many others.

Sharp, irreverent and hilarious, the 10-episode new season of Silicon Valley continues to lambast the self-important world of tech and finds the Pied Piper guys looking to leave their mark, even as they continue to fumble along the road to success.

###The President Show

“Trump” hosts his own tremendous late night show

From Wednesday 3 May at 8.30pm AEST

Continuing in Comedy Central’s grand tradition of producing ground-breaking late night television, a new weekly topical series The President Show – with a Trump-ian spin – is premiering on The Comedy Channel within days of the US broadcast.

Creator Anthony Atamanuik plays “Donald J. Trump” and is host of The President Show – a unique platform which bypasses the “crooked media” and lets “Trump” speak direct from the Oval Office.

Speaking about the upcoming series “Trump” declared, “Hosting my own late night show will be easy, but then everything’s easy for me, like repealing Obama Care, banning Muslims and defeating Isis in 30 days – that was so easy.”

Each week “Trump” will hold a White House press conference laying out his agenda and fielding questions from reporters. “Trump” will then sit at the Oval Office desk, with his sidekick Mike Pence (played by Peter Grosz) on the couch, to recap the week’s “executive orders” and highlights. “Trump” will also venture out of the White House, and welcome a weekly guest to spar with, before sharing his parting thoughts at the end of each episode.

###CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM - Season 9

From Monday 2 October at 8pm Express the US

Foxtel announced today the EmmyÂŽ- and Golden Globe-winning HBO comedy series Curb Your Enthusiasm will return for its ninth season exclusively to The Comedy Channel premiering Monday October 2 at 8pm Same Day Express from the US, and available to stream on Foxtel Now.

Curb Your Enthusiasm stars Seinfeld co-creator Larry David as an over-the-top version of himself in an unsparing but tongue-in-cheek depiction of his life. Shot in a realism style and featuring celebrities playing themselves, the episodes are improvised by the actors from an outline created by David. The series also stars Cheryl Hines as David’s wife Cheryl, Jeff Garlin as David’s manager Jeff and Susie Essman as Jeff’s wife Susie.

With 80 episodes to date, the show is HBO’s longest-running scripted comedy or drama series. Asked why he decided to come back after a five year hiatus, David said, “In the immortal words of Julius Caesar, ‘I left, I did nothing, I returned.’”

Relive – or experience for the first time – the legendary comedy series with all eight previous Curb Your Enthusiasm seasons available on The Comedy Channel in a marathon over the long weekend starting on Saturday September 30 at 6am with Season 1 and playing all 80 episodes in the lead up to the Season 9 premiere on Monday October 2 at 8pm followed by Mondays at 9.30pm from the second episode.

Stephen Baldwin, Director of Channels at Foxtel Networks, said “We’re thrilled HBO and Larry David are back together again for this long-awaited ninth season Curb Your Enthusiasm. The show has a huge fan base and The Comedy Channel is pleased to have this series exclusively and on the same day as the US premiere. The marathon of the previous eight seasons is perfect for catching up after the five year break, or for new viewers to discover Curb.”

Curb Your Enthusiasm was nominated for four Emmys® in 2008, including Outstanding Comedy Series. It won the Golden Globe in the Best Television Series - Musical or Comedy category in 2002. In 2003, Robert B. Weide won a directing Emmys® for his work on the series. The series has also received awards from the Writers Guild of America, Directors Guild of America, Banff Television Festival, American Film Institute and Monte Carlo Television Festival, among others. Curb Your Enthusiasm is executive produced by Larry David, Jeff Garlin, Gavin Polone, Alec Berg, David Mandel, Jeff Schaffer, Tim Gibbons and Erin O’Malley.

I thought new eps would’ve been on Showcase - a shame, because Comedy still isn’t in HD. Surely it’s coming some time this century?!

It’s so odd as most of its content is available in HD. It should’ve gone HD ages ago

I guess this means they’ve given up on Showcase being the home of HBO? Sounds like a price gouge to force people to get the comedy pack or platinum…

Gosh I remember people complaining about Comedy not being HD on the old forums.

Foxtel are taking their sweet time, as they do with anything non-sport or GoT related…

Pretty sure Last Week Tonight airs on The Comedy Channel instead of Showcase for logical reasons as well

Last Week Tonight airs on both. Hopefully this does too or it turns up on Binge like Silicon Valley did.
