The Chase Australia

Largest cash prize up for grabs so far in the show’s history. Helped by the second contestant going for the top prize and boosting the overal total.

Couldn’t believe it when I saw the six figures, let alone all four team members remaining. Goliath was on fire, even with 17 steps (the usuall pass mark) but he did have some easy questions (one of the contestants facial expressions and mouthing this very thing were priceless) and in the prior step builder a contestant missed an easy as Queen Meryl question which Matt even acknowledged

This episode was a normal one and not the double chaser thing

Contestant’s 1, 3 and 4 could’ve taken the high offer also. If they did they would’ve played for a whopping $211,000! They played a great game tonight, just was a massive blow they only got 1 opportunity for a pushback and got caught with 21 seconds remaining. They would’ve needed 4 pushbacks in total to win.

Previous highest was $102,000 in 2015 and 4 contestants got 25 steps, 5 out of 7 pushbacks and won.

And there’s still David “The Professor” Poltorak to come, and he filmed back in late 2022. Gotta feel sorry for the contestants/teams that may had won against him, a long wait for the money if their episodes eventually gets to air.

I wonder why there is a delay in airing these episodes?

What’s the highest amount won then?

That’s pretty poor considering the cashbuilder is $2k a question rather than $1k considering the numerical value of the higher offers is similar to those in the UK. I think the lower cash builder prize would see more people gamble, and 9 times out of 10 it costs the producers nothing anyway.

$102,000. William Laing mentioned it on Beat The Chase Australia when his team won said amount on the regular show. It was in one of the earlier seasons back when AoK was hosting.

From memory he was the second player to win $500,000 on the original Millionaire in 2000 (Trevor Sauer was the first).

Makes me wonder, Seven could’ve hired either of those two, or maybe one of Rob “The Coach” Fulton or Martin Flood, as a Chaser.

It’s been quite some years since Seven ramped up their Chase promos, from the caps Cynic uploaded here of “next” to the specific new ones on high rotation for the new Chaser to the recent “Double Trouble” specials. I think the network became a bit complacent in recent years after it really dominated, but good to see finally a real competition back in this 5pm timeslot, not seen since early 2010s and again at Deal’s infancy in the early-mid 2000s.

Since last week in Western Victoria at least after the 4th contestant play their game, they go straight to the final chase instead of an ad break. In my opinion they should drop the ad break after the 1st contestant plays their cash builder.

Interesting. Seven dropping ad space ($$$) seems to indicate they are very worried indeed

I noticed this on Monday too. Also I swear I saw another ‘double trouble’ edition. And I saw another normal ep that had all eliminated team mates return for the final chase with the sole remaining but their names greyed out.
