So the head to heads worked as I thought with them alternating. Was it both Chasers in the final Chase then?
If so I do think it would be fairer rather than on the buzzer they alternated answering, so if one Chaser hits a wrong answer it doesn’t pass to the other one until they’ve answered one correctly.
For the UK show’s 1,000th episode in 2016, they featured all five Chasers, and for the record the contestants defeated the Governess in the final chase.
So not double as difficult, challenging, or risky and nothing like Beat the Chasers. They just switch chasers half way through?
I think the show could have stood on its own, without the need to mess with the format. I only saw the last few minutes before the news, and it looked odd having Goliath towering over the Supernerd.
I’m interpreting these as a series of specials rather than anything permanent (due to Tipping Point starting), so it’ll probably go back to normal once they’ve all been shown
Yes, hopefully only a week or two of them. Not a fan of them as much and I don’t like them talking about their favourite chaser at the start, it should remain a mystery again like usual to not know which one/pair it’s going to be.
The Chase Australia launched in 2015. But in late 2020, ITV tried to launch a spinoff, Beat the Chasers, and submitted paperwork to trademark that name. It hit a roadblock: The Chaser team objected, and won. ITV has appealed the decision in a Federal Court.
I remember in the early days, an ad would feature the Chaser for that day’s episode (e.g. on a Tuesday, they would show a promo featuring the Shark, who would indeed appear).
Surely they’re referred to as “the Chasers” on the main show too - have they tried to sue over that?
If they do revive Beat the Chasers Australia not quite sure what theu could rename it - “Beat the people we’re legally not allowed to call The Chasers”?
Wonder if this is due to Chase’s comparatively poor performance vs newcomer TP (in metro and particularly Sydney) so far this year? It no doubt was already planned, but perhaps have reactively brought this forward.
