The Chase Australia

Really excited for the Larry Emdur episodes of The Chase next week. I’ll miss Andrew, but I hope Larry does a great job.

You can catch your first look at Larry on the set of The Chase on The Morning Show tomorrow (Wednesday 21st July), as his morning show co-host Kylie Gillies goes up against the Supernerd.

behind the scenes of The Chaser?

That’s generalised assumption about what the viewers want though . Do you have any sources to back up this claim?

I don’t like his voice on it, nor some of his body language/presenting style in the ‘sneak peak’, but I guess we’ll have to wait for the proper episodes to find out what he is like.

Just watching the final new Andrew O’Keefe-hosted episode of The Chase. Haven’t watched for a while but he certainly does appear to be abnormally upbeat and wired. Also a little sweaty and bloated. His demeanour is reminiscent of behaviour I’ve seen in people suffering a manic episode. I don’t doubt he was struggling at the time this was filmed.

Can’t see the set tweaks in the Emdur “sneak peek” that were mentioned in a certain media podcast a few months ago.

Hopefully in future episodes they can get a bigger desk (heck borrow the Seven Perth desk) and put glass screens between the contestants like the UK version instead of the current ridiculously awkward setup of two in front and two at the back.

Bit hard when it acts as a retaining wall for half of the WA coastline.

From this morning’s The Morning Show:

I thought the show was getting a refreshed set. Doesn’t look like it’s happening.
Really looking forward to Larry’s premiere on Monday.

Same here, I don’t usually watch “The Chase”, but partly because I’ve never really liked O’Keeffe.

No changes to the look or set at all then - I thought they said their would be.

A difference in the set I notice is the studio floor between the contestants desk and where the contestant stands when playing the chaser has changed. Not really a proper set change, though.

The changes to the TCA set are relatively minor. Mostly a host desk change and adopting the same LED floor as the UK studio.

I would hope the other minor change is that the clock turns red when a Chaser gets a question wrong to start the pushback opportunity. (similar to the UK and USA versions).

The overall set seems smaller too…

Who is the greatest Chaser of all time?

The games begin Monday on The Chase with Larry Emdur

Who is the greatest Chaser of them all? Is it The Shark, Goliath or The Supernerd, or maybe your money is safer on The Governess or The Tiger Mum? Find out Monday, 5.30pm, when Australia’s #1 game show, The Chase Australia , welcomes brand-new host Larry Emdur.

One of the country’s most experienced and loved television presenters, Emdur has had a love affair with quiz shows for most of his working life and says the opportunity to host one of the TV world’s greatest formats is incredibly exciting.

“I’m thrilled to be the new host of The Chase and I can’t wait to see the look on my mum’s face when she hears me saying all those big words,” said Emdur. “I’m excited to be starting on Monday during the Olympics. Mind you, any of the Chasers will happily tell you this show IS the Olympics of quizzing.”

Emdur, who also hosts Seven’s top-rating The Morning Show alongside Kylie Gillies, has made a somewhat smooth transition into the hallowed Chase arena. “I felt reasonably composed during the shows until The Governess starting flirting with me, then it all kind of fell apart.”

Renowned for hosting some of Australia’s most-loved game shows, including Wheel Of Fortune and a record-breaking 1,500 episodes of The Price Is Right , Emdur has a front-row seat to witness contestants battle the thrilling brainpower of epic Chasers The Shark (Brydon Coverdale) Goliath (Matt Parkinson) The Supernerd (Issa Schultz) The Governess (Anne Hegerty) or The Tiger Mum (Cheryl Toh).

Funny to hear Basil Zempilas say during one of the swimming medleys today, “The Chase is on”.

I reckon if border closures weren’t a thing, then Basil could’ve made a great replacement for Andrew. His commanding voice and likeable persona would do well on this kind of show.

Yeah no

Not when he’s the Lord Mayor of Perth in addition to his existing duties. He’s a nice guy and does well on Weekend Sunrise but Larry is better on game shows like The Chase.
