And to think people were calling for Seven to drop it - would have been a huge ask for a new show to close that gap, especially as there isnât much around on the international market at the moment.

The 5 city metro is still the biggest issue, consistently losing sometime by double (QLD) will force Sevens hand to replace TCA.

I think as long as the Chase remains competitive in Sydney and Melbourne it will be fine. My understanding is that the Brisbane figure includes Gold Coast, where 9 has a 5.30pm local news service and 7 does not (happy to be corrected on that if not the case)

harsh as it sounds, TCA really only exists to serve 6pm and the network will only care about the ratings/reach of those crucial last 5-10 minutes, which they see, but we donât. I doubt they are fussed about the 5-5:30pm part at all
given nationally 7 News seems to be opening up a margin of late (regionals doing much of the heavy lifting) I doubt theyâll risk messing with the lead-in

Mondayâs rating of 790,000 is the highest since the start of Tipping Point. Tipping Point still won with a much reduced margin to 844,000. The equivalent day last year the show had 687,000.
Seven News thenrecorded its second highest rating of the year.

Agree. I think this was a big mistake. So many fuck ups were made 2 years ago in the Queensland market.

Reinstate it; and as Iâve said before lots of community engagement and local promotions. Some of the NRL rights would also help.
This week rated even higher with 726,000. The margin to Tipping Point was 73,000.
This week last year the average was 660,000 and the margin 152,000.

Almost as if gimmicks like double chasers and spin the wheel werenât needed at all and had they stuck to their formula it wouldâve been much more competitive against TP regardlessâŚ

I think the new end steps for money is a good âgimmickâ.
It doesnât really have a big impact like first rounds of the game like the money spinner where contestants could go for the low offer and get the spin etc.
I can see that sticking around and most of the time itâs offered to people who get low final chase numbers anyways and doesnât get alter the end result too much

Theyâve essentially responded to Tipping Point by engineering their own variation of its âTemptationâ style device, and the result feels, at best, rather clunky in my opinion. In fact, Iâd go so far as to say that the very reliance on these kinds of cheap gimmicks suggests The Chase is feeling the pressure, aware that itâs up against a far more watchable rival.
Larry Emdur arguably marked the beginning of the decline, and the handover between him and OâKeefe couldâand shouldâhave been handled far more smoothly than it was. Since then, Seven has seemed increasingly desperate to manufacture reasons to justify pushing The Chase back into primetime, in an effort to lift both Emdurâs profile and the showâs overall relevance. Unfortunately, both goals now feel difficult to sustain.

Despite starting massive, also aided by Tokyo Olympics, I too didnât feel the whole end of AOK and into Emdur was transitioned nor marketed that well.

At least the chase has the 'Chasers which are swapped each episode.. providing at least SOME differences

Not gonna lie, I much prefer Tipping Point over The Chase now. The format of The Chase has become slow and tired after more than a decade.
I do much prefer Larry Emdur as host over Andrew OâKeefe. I like his immature behaviour like getting the Tiger Mum to say Ralph Laurenâs birth surname Lifshitz repeatedly, asking the Tiger Mum about the planet Uranus, âwhat are you saying Uranus is huge?!â, and asking the Governess is she wanted a bumbrella.
My favourite chasers are the Supernerd and the Governess. I do like to play along at home by answering the questions, and seeing how many steps I get in the final chase. I typically get 5-10 steps most of the time.
The only part of the show I donât like is when contestants take the low offer if they earn $10,000 or more. Iâm always disgusted when that happens.
Tipping Point is only 2 years old so the format still feels nice and fresh. Todd Woodbridge is a kind hearted host.
Last yearâs season was painful to watch with all the ambient drops, which no longer happen in this yearâs season since the machine has been upgraded from hydraulic to electronic.
The only part of the show I donât like is when Todd plays Jackpot Temptation when the jackpot counter is still on the top shelf. He just completely wastes his time and the contestantâs time most of the time doing that. Thatâs where heâs a complete know all.
