The Block

So happy for Steph & Gian and the girls
I don’t think Danny will be getting the royal treatment next season.
Adrian said House 3 was his favourite during the domain challenge, so either he changed his mind or the auctioneer really did hurt his ego enough for him not to bid.

It’s so bloody ridiculous. One guy is the reason the houses are selling that high. He could have bought the whole Block it he wanted. Surely there’s got to be some investigation into him. He has too much and idiots keep buying his lotto tickets

Also after the girls specifically designed their house for Hamish and Zoe it’s funny they prob lost out to lambo guy

Does seem as if Adrian rewarded Steph & Gian and the girls - and Kyle & Leslie in some part, and penalised Houses 2 and 3 for their behaviours on the show this season.

Im in two minds. I like that the right people were rewarded, but I dont really like that its all about three bidders. Just goes to show, all the judges comments about how to style and build the house for certain buyers is mute all season long.

I’ve often struggled with this show for that very reason, the commentary is really just there for the shock value that looks good in promos, and I don’t think really reflects too greatly on the final outcome.

Looked to have made the correct decision to have the property passed in.

Leah and Ash’s property that passed on The Block’s finale is expected to sell for about $3.1m in the next 24-48 hours.

It comes as the agent working on the sale revealed The Block’s “big hitter” bidders Danny Wallis and Adrian Portelli scared buyers off the weekend auctions.

This is now the major issue with the auctions.

If they continue appearing at auctions, you can almost predict that if they don’t make the first astronomical bid future contestants will push for their houses to be passed in for later private sale, (especially the controversial couples as Adrian clearly made bids based on the couples and not the houses themselves).

It also further reiterates that judging based on what ‘buyers want’ is no longer what sells The Block.

A reality TV show has exposed a flaw in Victoria’s underquoting laws being exploited by real estate agents. Under the rules they can quote a price range - even if the buyer would never sell that low - and experts are pushing for change. @SaraJones_7 #7NEWS

According to Sunday Herald Sun’s Fiona Byrne, Nine (through its Block property vehicle Micjoy) paid $8.8 million to buy Island Cove Villas on Phillip Island in September this year, before plans for the five Block homes were submitted to Bass Coast Shire Council on October 17. The council is seeking more information regarding the plans, before a decision about the planning permit can be reached.

UPDATE 3/12:
Last week, Bass Coast Shire Council approved the permit application and site work began straight away.

Update on last year’s block.
House 2 still hasn’t sold, The Block branding has been removed and the front 3D printed wall looks to be weeping.
Also the McCafe house is currently being renovated.

House 2 has finally been sold for $3.125 million, giving Leah and Ash a profit of $155,000.

TV Tonight says filming for the new season starts on Island Cove Villas, Phillip Island, Victoria, this Friday (March 1). Separately, Neale Whitaker had announced he would return as a full-time judge this year.

Thats ashame, I think it worked having him and Marty Fox alternating each week, and was generally hoping it would remain or even better, Marty would replace him

I can’t see that article however the Blockinator Blog on Facebook is already showing the contestants filming. There appears to only be 4 couples at this stage with speculation an all-stars team might join.

Not sure if any of that is mentioned?

That’s a shame. I was hoping for them all to be all stars.

That green hair is horrible

Sunday Herald Sun’s Fiona Byrne writes that one of the five teams has quit the show in the past two weeks, four weeks into the filming schedule. A new team was brought in within days.
