The Block

Artificially propped up for years.

But Cam is not leaving The Block juggernaut just yet.

He filmed teasers for the 2026 season to be held in Mt. Eliza which screened as part of the 2025 Upfront.

More to the point, Cam told about journos watching Saturday’s auction being filmed he was returning to the show.

Anything speculating otherwise is false.

Adrian Portelli roasts Block auction failures: ‘Nobody wants them’

Stop, stop, they’re already dead. Adrian Portelli’s Block break-up continues, as the billionaire gloats online about this year’s auction failures.

“But anyway … I still have The Block houses, and it’s clear that nobody really wants to pay for them. But I’ve still got five from last year down at Phillip Island, so I am giving them away through LMCT Plus. You don’t have to pay for them – clearly people don’t want to buy these houses,” he said.

In fact, Portelli had struggled to sell the five Phillip Island properties he purchased for a combined $15.03 million last year. Back in June, he posted on Instagram begging his followers to take the properties off his hands.

Portelli couldn’t even give them away either. The winner of his massive (questionably legal) draw in December chose to take a cash prize instead of the five houses. The cash prize was about half of what Portelli paid for The Block houses.

Billionaire Adrian Portelli turns on The Block: ‘Less than one per cent’

Adrian Portelli was Nine’s darling after snapping up every home on The Block last year. Now, the billionaire has turned on the network as the feud gets messy.

“They’re completely out of touch and unrealistic,” Portelli said.

The Block pitches themselves as a good opportunity for families to buy these famous homes, but these houses aren’t built for everyday Australians. They are meant for the super-rich.

“Who is going to go and bid on them when they know they’re competing against billionaires? These houses aren’t targeted at everyday Aussies. They’re multimillion-dollar homes.”

Portelli revealed the real reason he turned his back on The Block was that they knocked back a pitch for “My Reno Rules”, which has since been picked up by Channel 7.

“It was initially going to be with Channel 9, but they lost interest,” Portelli said.

“So I said, ‘All right, if you don’t see the potential in it, I’ll take it somewhere else’. I went to Channel 7, pitched it within five minutes, and told them, ‘If you want it, great; if not, see you later. ’ And sure enough, twenty minutes later they rang me up and said, ‘let’s do it.’ That’s the story behind that.”

A good property for The Block perhaps?

could be cool to see them go back to their roots of renovating a block of flats in Bondi

A friend of mine lives in Daylesford and his neighbour was involved in the auction for one of the three houses that sold on the day. I apologise if this has already been mentioned but apparently when the remaining two houses sell the contestants will only receive 50% rather than the normal 100%. This is because Ch9 will take the other 50% because it won’t be shown on tv.

I got the impression Nine moved away from doing NSW properties in favour of VIC ones because property planning approvals were much easier down there?

Wasn’t just the approvals from memory either - the show brings chaos (trying to build on the scale The Block does that, plus the fan attraction) and not every Council is up for that.

“You have changed our lives forever,” they wrote, revealing their little girl’s name is Ilaria Ottavio.
