I think it’s good people are holding people to account for the things they say and type on social media. There are too many keyboard warriors out there and it’s a lesson that things can come back to bite you. Hopefully he doesn’t hold those views anymore and we all need to remember we grow as people all the time and views do change.
He was 16. Anyone with a brain wouldn’t make a deal out of it cause he would have grown out of it from lived experiences
Of course but the younger generation needs to also learn from this. Too often people are posting on social media threatening celebrities lives and expressing views that are harmful. It just proves now what you post stays with you. So think about what you post and the consequences. This isn’t just about Lochie it’s about the having consequences for your ‘keyboard warrior’ behaviour. The bullying culture online has got out of control and often people post things without actually educating yourself on a matter.
I’m just sick of people (esp in media) going to great lengths out to get everyone now. Like get a life.
Hmmm I don’t agree at all. It’s not ‘getting’ people it’s holding people to account for their actions. If you think you can hide behind a keyboard or a profile you are wrong.
I don’t like that people could lose their jobs etc for things they might have said that long ago. But Lochie and recently Renold were held to account for views they expressed on social media. And so they should. Simple as this. Educate yourself before you post something. Or it might bite you in 14 years time.
This isn’t just a lesson for Lochie but that child that might be calling someone a slut on social media. Or the person threatening the lives of AFL players.
I disagree, this is just another part of the cancel culture that has permeated throughout current society.
Why should someone be accountable for something they said or did 10/20 years ago?
Why shouldn’t they? If you post something in a public arena you need to expect consequences for those actions. Is it ok that people are threatening the lives of people on social media? And in 10 years they become a celebrity in the spotlight do we just ignore what they said?
I’m not suggesting Lochie should be punished. He apologised and let’s move on. But it’s good we are holding people to account for making comments without educating oneself first. And it’s a good lesson to other people who hide behind a profile and a keyboard and feel they can say and do what they like without any consequences.
his high school education? cause he didnt even know about real life then.
I notice majority of comments on this article agree with that and they saying imagine if we decided to drag up the “journalists” past.
I think you are missing my point. I am not saying he should be punished. He has apologised, acknowledged he doesn’t hold those views anymore etc. just like Reynold from Masterchef did a month or so ago. bringing it up is important as it’s a lesson to others out there as well. Your posts have consequences. No matter how old you are.
Suggesting, like you are, that the media cannot bring this to the attention of the public is irresponsible. It just encourages people to continue to post things without thinking of the consequences. Bullying on social media and uneducated posts are at an all time high. Ignoring it will only encourage it more
Journalists too should be held to account, and are, for their posts on social media. And that is the whole point. Your employer will search your social media to see what type of person you are. They want someone who represents their brand. Look at the politician a few years back who got caught out from posts he made by just a trying to act cool. He was gay and talking about lesbians and rape. He lost his political career and his teaching career would now be tarnished. So it’s a lesson to those out there to be careful what you post.
These stories, to me, are not just about the celebrity but teaching those ‘keyboard warriors’ that their posts have consequences and you cannot hide behind a profile or keyboard. The words you say on social media can and do hurt others. So yes, even in high school, you need to understand and educate yourself before posting something. Now more than ever.
Episode description
Thursday 10 September
The Bachelor Australia S08 E10
Locky and the ladies return to the The Bachelor mansion and some things have changed dramatically. For some, deeper connections have been found, while for others initial sparks have fizzled out.
So it looks like just 2 episodes full outside the mansion.
Promo aired during The Masked Singer tonight showed that five ladies would be sent home in Wednesday’s episode, leaving ten in contention.
UPDATE 2/9: Bella did an interview with New Idea regarding tonight’s episode, in which she had to call home to find out if her sick grandfather was OK (he is OK).
Not sure who’s in the bath with glass of wine to the side in screencap #3, but it looks like something right out of the 1900 “Call Me” ads that used to air on late night TV back in the day!
10 and Warner Bros announced on March 26 that they had temporarily stopped production of this season. I guess tonight’s episode was filmed on the night before.
Not sure how the love in lockdown episodes tonight and next Wednesday worked. Did the producers send a cameraman to the homes of the 10 remaining ladies? Or did the girls set up the remote cameras themselves?
There were definitely more cameras in most of the houses. There were even a couple of points where it looked like someone outside was filming (like when Roxy stormed off crying the camera was zooming towards the window of the house). I guess it’s possible that other people in the house were helping film certain things although to me it felt like that they probably did a few days of filming towards the end of lockdown so it could fit into the “story” of it all when they were preparing to head back.
I wouldn’t be surprised to see tonight’s episode feature in entertainment news in the US in the next few days.
There were obviously other people on site as they were asking questions of the girls
Did the psychic also predict who Locky chooses?
Yeah that was incredible the psychic predicted her grandfather would die. After she probably revealed that during her application process and to producers.
