What is a melt reel?

Are all these slipping through the cracks on the live streams?

longer form highlight reel, usually recorded on to tape and played back later as fill if needed

Remember that test card very well living In Perth back In the mid 90s TVW 7 didn’t start 24 hour transmission until around March 2000.

I find that astounding. What about STW and NEW? I was only young in the 1990s but I’m fairly confident that all metro commercial stations on the east coast were 24/7 quite a few years earlier than 2000.

AFAIK, STW9 went 24/7 circa 1984. NEW10 did so sometime in the mid 1990s. TCN9 and GTV9 were the first to go full 24/7 in 1976. By the end of the 1980s, Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane commercial channels were all full 24/7.

STW 9 started 24 hour transmission In 1984 & NEW 10 began In the mid 90s.
