Kazakhstan have qualified for this September’s Billie Jean King Cup finals in China, after winning ties against Australia and Colombia in Brisbane. Australia defeated Colombia 3-0 today in the final group tie, and have to settle for a spot in the playoffs later this year.

Tennis players told they can’t shower in private under ‘bonkers’ anti-doping rule
The International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) has issued a statement after a viral social media post over anti-doping, which highlighted that players cannot shower in private if they’re chosen to give samples.

Max Purcell has accepted an 18-month suspension for breaching the sport’s anti-doping rules with banned infusions.
Including time already served during the voluntary provisional suspension, the 27-year-old’s ban will end in June 2026.
Until then, he will be prohibited from playing in, coaching at, or attending any tennis event authorised or sanctioned by the members of the ITIA (the International Tennis Integrity Agency), including the ATP.

An upset in the French Open Round 2. Alex Bublik (from Kazakhstan) just beat our Alex De Minaur 2-6, 2-6, 6-4, 6-3, 6-3. Especially since De Minaur won the first two sets in a convincing manner,

They’ve got plenty of courts - as with most slams, the quarter finals onwards are on one court - in this case, Philippe-Chatrier.
Andreeva has a point but also, the French very rarely do anything before midday/1pm so getting a crowd in before then is harder.

There was a much bigger crowd at the second women’s quarter final match last night as a French player was playing .She defeated the current teen sensation Mirra Andreeva in 2 sets.
I like seeing the underdog player get through,she was entered as a wildcard too👍

I somewhat agree having been on a flight to Melbourne from Perth 3 months ago (as I finally moved yay) I sort of felt dirty for the 6 foot tall guy who needed to put stretch his legs and recliner his seat a bit. I didn’t have an issue with it because the seats and spaces are quite small.
People not wanting to wait until old people to get on the tram or off the tram and just push passed them just really shit me to tears.
I don’t know why we even bother have the quiet carriages ..people are just loud and obnoxious and on my way into Melbourne this morning were just all talking on loud speaker on the phone.
Honestly we might as well just do away with the quiet carriage and just make it normal.
I went to the toilet and it really pissed me off. It wouldn’t flush. Went to Myers on Bourke Street. I will feel sorry for the next person has to use it and saw my shit in there.

Lois Boisson was trounced in straight sets by Coco Gauff in the semi final overnight. Gauff will now face Aryna Sabalenka in the women’s singles final on Saturday.

After the longest and perhaps most epic of all Roland Garros showdowns — lasting five hours and 29 minutes — champion Alcaraz finally prevailed 4-6, 6-7 (4-7), 6-4, 7-6 (7-3), 7-6 [10-2] against world number one Sinner to win his fifth grand slam in a true Sunday spectacular.
There seemed no way back for the 22-year-old Spaniard when he trailed 3-5, 0-40 in the fourth set with Sinner poised to win his third slam in a row after wins in the US Open and Australian Open.
