Not true. While the bulk of coverage is on ESPN, ABC has some coverage on the opening and middle Sundays, as well as the Men’s Final.

To be fair, that only changed last year after a number of years with the final not being on FTA over there.

Mind you, it’s all a different beast over there anyways.

They have already interrupted the start of the 6pm news at least, multiple times in the past. Such as when a thrilling or marathon 5 set match was close to concluding, especially if involving an Australian. One that does come to mind was for Dylan Alcott’s final match IIRC, which was a lauded move and I recall it ended up rating something like 1m metro too.

It should start at 7pm with 5 minutes for broadcasters to intro it.

Ecuador defeated Australia 3-1 in the first round of Davis Cup World Group in Quito. After Ecuador won the first two singles matches on a rainy interrupted Saturday, the home side claimed the tie with a straight sets victory in the doubles rubber on Sunday. Jason Kubler won the reverse singles dead rubber for Australia.

Ecuador will face Great Britain away in the second round in mid September, with the winner to join six other second round winners and defending champion Italy in the finals in November.
