Is the Melbourne Cup coverage coming out of ATV10?
Hosted trackside today, some of the preview shows etc come out of the Sport / Cheap Seats studio in Melbourne though.
Also, there is an inside studio. Basically the same as last year.
IMO 10 and Flemington running rings around Seven and Rosehill/Eagle Farm today.
For the latter: big crowd, fine weather (perfect for punters attending), top optics, great vibe and better production values, Eddie is also handy, Felgate and all the experts great again, Michelle is very good get.
For the former: inside a boxed studio, poor weather, Bruce’s talents wasted, Emma Freedman annoying, poor crowd, over-hyped and feel the marketing gimmick (lead by News Corp/Daily Tele with Seven for V’landys) has weakened this year and the feel and production just looks stale and like your year-round weekly coverage (there was a play-out error about 30min ago where a package didn’t play and the pre-tag internal graphic aired - Bruce apologised to viewers and then were able to roll it again).
Much prefer the coverage on Racing.com of Flemington.
For racing purists, not the annual theatre-goer, ‘colour’ fan.
Addict gamblers.
Don’t give WIN any ideas with the size of that watermark ![]()
Good coverage today by 10 Sport.
Good to see Adam on TV again, hasn’t done much other than call some streaming cricket matches (while his contract ran out at Fox) since Fox lost football rights, then other than working for Seven during the WWC he’s only been doing some MCing, the WillowTalk podcast for Listnr and writing for CODE.
No, they prefer Sky 1 & 2 ![]()
When did they put racing.com in HD on Foxtel?
In July. Here is the announcement.
Is that actually mown into the grass. Or is it composited on?
There are reports in the News Limited papers today saying some viewers complained that 10 cut to an ad break with 400m to go in the main race. I didn’t notice any interruption in Metro Melbourne. Potentially regional affiliates in some parts of Victoria? Pretty embarrassing blunder.
There was no problem in Brisbane.
Looks like it was Southern Cross 10 affiliates in Victoria.
On Saturday evening, a Network 10 apologised for the blunder.
“During the Victoria Derby race today, our affiliate broadcast partner unfortunately switched to an ad break. All other markets were not interrupted. We apologise on behalf of our affiliate for the interruption to coverage,” the spokesperson said.
SCA regional have also responded.
“Confirming, during the Victoria Derby race today, as regional affiliate Network Ten broadcast partner, unfortunately we switched to an ad break,” an SCA spokesperson said. “We apologise for the interruption to coverage.”
