Looks like your right. It’s just a miss print in the EPG.

Francesca Cumani has returned to Melbourne to prepare for 10’s coverage of Melbourne Cup carnival.

Are you serious?

Cox plate wasn’t coming up in the epg on 7 saying they were showing it that’s why i thought 10 may have had the rights and not 7.

Bad news for 10 with Seven’s own horse racing coverage going head to head with the Cup telecast for the first time. Seven’s broadcast of The Big Dance race day from Royal Randwick starts at midday AEDT.

That means Oaks Day is the only day 10 has the afternoon all to its own.

I don’t think they have much to worry about on Melbourne Cup Day. As if anyone will watch the other race.

Derby Day has been a worry for the VRC though. Most people still have the perception that Seven is covering The Melbourne Cup Carnival.

Obviously, the Melbourne Cup itself will attract a far bigger audience than The Big Dance race. However, if Seven’s coverage of The Big Dance raceday eats into 10’s Melbourne Cup Day coverage (i.e., not just the race itself) ratings even somewhat, it will definitely ruffle some feathers.

I don’t think it will… as it’s a work day for most of the country. Melbourne (metro area) have a public holiday and will only be interested in watching 10.

As I said Derby Day (Saturday) is a different story.

If that really is true, then Seven have done a really good job, but Ten can also thank themselves for spending how many tens of millions for four afternoons a year.

You would be surprised come Tuesday afternoon at 2 pubs and clubs suddenly become very busy and shops quieten down. I used to work in retail and every year was the same.

I’m aware… but most people will notice that its not from Flemington. Especially the people watching it form shops and pubs.

Yeah but how many people will turn on 7 looking for the race and miss it?

You would have to be pretty "‘thick’’ if you cant tell the difference… especially when the horses are going the other direction

Yeah but casual watchers aren’t going to notice that. Plus they may just think “oh it’s the next race” or something.

most other racing venues including major ones have race days on Melbourne cup day anyway. Take the Randwick race day. All they are really doing is taking it and promoting it plus the prize money is higher. To be honest, why seven are even showing it I’m not sure.

Just arrogant from NSW/Seven
