Ten News at 7pm Summer Edition?? Any caps of this and how long did it last for?
Summer non ratings as a trial. Sandra sully presented. It was a national bulletin.
It was not national. Mal Walden presented in Melbourne @cmo.
Did it do well?
I don’t think so.
From memory, @Abesty did some research about these some time ago (possibly on the pre-Discourse era of Media Spy) and found that Ten News Summer Edition only lasted about 6-8 weeks…something like that.
I’d imagine that Ten may have considered making this 7pm weeknight bulletin a permanent fixture of the schedule had it rated well, but it must’ve done poorly if the concept didn’t return the following Summer.
It was hardly a fair test, limited time over summer, probably no promotion. Typical 10.

Some gorgeous design coming out of that era. Were the early 2000’s one of 10’s coolest moments?
They certainly were program-wise (Big Brother, AFL, Idol, Rove). Presumably this mood was being reflected by the design team.

This was when 10 News reached its peak… the 2000s was a constant decade for the Ten Network.
6am Ten Early News
11am Ten Morning News
5.00pm Ten News First at Five
10.30pm Ten Late News
11.00pm Sports Tonight
Plus “Meet The Press” and Sports Tonight at 5.30 on weekends.
It wasn’t an expensive operation and they were valued as serious alternative to their commercial counterparts.
Then came 2011.
