Ten News +

Apologies. I got caught up with Ten as the network but you were referring to the station specific.

I mean it’s sad but it’s one of those things where centralisation is inevitable and on contract people who are probably on golden handshake salaries that just aren’t justifiable can’t exist. The golden years of things that were once aren’t going to be there forever and that’s the kind of thing that’s not just happening at 10, all networks are streamlining here and even in the US etc.

As did others around the country.

Im wondering if Ten Brisbane and Ten Melbourne might end up being used if they start producing more content. I would like to hope they would

As good as the “good news” story was it was the wrong tone to open the bulletin, should have been mid or end bulletin.

Denham thought it was so good, he gleefully pointed it out at the end about a good news story leading a bulletin.

I also have a real problem with him having such involvement in stories. I noticed this on Instagram.
If you’re presenting you need to be impartial, but the below breaks that.

They also need to stop the dual interviews. It’s getting a bit painful. Denham introduced the Ozzie story at the video wall, then after a quick overlay package he’s back at the desk.
Should have had him do the interview standing with the vertical screens to the right of the video wall.
There’s also way too much overlay vision used during interviews. This current interview has been 90% overlay.
Why bother having someone in a studio being interviewed if you never see them? Do a Split View of overlay and the interviewee then?

Is this show still on?

Can’t you feel it sucking the life out of 10?

Yep. Loosing The Project has cost 10 a lot.

Oh now we have the theme song playing through segments…. :expressionless_face:

It’s all a bit of a mess. Time to overhaul again I think… it’s been how many weeks now? It’s not working.

I’m surprised they let him respond on socials. That’s pretty much a no go zone for most employers even non media.

I’d imagine any delay in pulling it simply due to the now complexities involved. Where does everyone go, what replaces it. Probably need a week or two just to get over that bit. I would assume that process has only started last week.

I agree - should just be one of them at the desk for the interview, then the other introduces the next story, etc.

Are we all assuming they are working behind the scenes to come up with an alternatively solution before they axe it completely?

I’m predicting an announcement after Fridays show.

Surely at this point anything they air will be better than this at 6pm

Got to give it to the team - despite some criticism and ratings - still turning up for a podcast to talk about the show. Will have a chat with Denham tomorrow

I suspect he will be tone deaf to the show not connecting at all with the audience and kinda deny deflect and say it needs time they are doing something different and Australian tv needs this.

Yea he’s right. Just don’t need it for an hour a day at 6pm

This should be one hour a week at 8.30pm

What if 6pm became a sunrise type show localised in each city.

News, lifestyle, weather, city happenings, sport. Real estate.

A live local magazine show.

“Sydney at Six”, “Queensland at Six” etc

Not a tightly produced local bulletin, but a free flowing news and magazine show that can adapt to each local market.

Shades of ‘Brisbane with Anna McMahon’ and ‘Sydney with Mike Gibson’ from 1990.

QTQ had ‘Brisbane Extra’ for 18 years because it was the only city that format worked and it wasn’t up against 6pm news.

A local version of a current affairs show like ‘Today Tonight’ was in its original format may work but don’t see it rating well across all metro cities.
