Ten News +

I’d say it was this with rostering etc, rather than being able to afford it necessarily.

If I recall correctly, the official reason given for the move was about the available audience, but sounds like spin to me.

It’s staff rostering. Basically the same crew are working from 1.00pm -9.00pm shifts. Lunchtime. Afternoon, 5.00, News + and Late News.

Going over this timeframe and 10 will need to roster on a new crew or pay out of ours for staff.

Hence why they vacated the Midday News.

Even the work times you listed doesnt make sense because there would be preproduction before production. I daresay they would be starting no later than midday for preproduction, if not earlier.

Also, there would be post production and possibly debriefing aa well. Based on what you suggest 10 Late News isn’t live as well which to me, removes credibility from the program.

To me it would have to be staggered start times between 11am and 2pm with finish time staggered as well possibly between 8pm and 11pm.

Yes I don’t think that makes sense. They don’t just walk in at 1pm and go on air. Plus working 1 to 9? You’d be dealing with lunch breaks etc at 4 or 5.

Its not live. Its pre recorded around 8.00pm

The numbers have been consistent this week - can’t see much changing that is going to shift the total disinterest of viewers in the timeslot on 10.

Notable that the encore on Tuesday had 72,000 leading out of the late news, which is pretty good considering the time and content; it’s probably a bit better than what The Project encore.

Evrn though the times listed are not accurate, the main point is correct. The lre would be some staff rostered early and some rostered late.

The point is that they made the changes so they didn’t have to hire additional staff and can share resources between bulletins.

Not during daylight savings

They record about 15 minutes after Perth wraps.

But wait a second. Didnt they hire extra staff for 10 News+?

That’s not early morning though. They justify it because it’s prime time even though this new program has worse ratings than many daytime shows. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Sure seems like they were planning for the show to last until the end of this decade.

An alternative would be to axe 10 News+ entirely and air both gameshows between 6pm and 7:30pm in a move that might provide families some relief to endless depressing news content, though that would be a costly change of direction for the network given the number of long-term employment contracts currently associated with 10 News+

Then again, it’s 10, and I can’t wait to see the show being listed next month, based on some excuses like “our hit shows didn’t start off strong either”.

Just ditch it, and air a project/cheap seats hybrid at 930pm and call it “Good Evening, Good Night”. It’s 4 months overdue.

Im just thinking the idea that it wouldnt be the same production team producing the 1pm news as the team doing the Late News. One also would assume some production crew would be casuals or part time staff.

IMO Ten needs to do something late morning as a flow on effect for the afternoon scheduling, even if Ten could produce a pre-recorded semi-news and entertainment program for late mornings.

They had that. It was called Studio 10. I don’t imagine there is any desire to revisit that.

Amelia is returning tonight

With the axing of Studio 10 and The Project, 10 has far less staff than what it has today.

Wonder how it rates tonight

They couldn’t handle the ratings drop when Amelie returned?

Looks like an autocue (or reflection of it maybe?) was partially visible in the background as Georgie introduced the first story
