Name is weird, I suppose they didnât want to call it Ten Evening News or whatever as it sounded old and outdated. But it definitely sounds like CBS Evening Newsâ most recently format.
Hopefully they do have a digital plan, but 10 struggles with execution too often.
Are we giving this 6 months? A year? Two? A decade?
I really hope they do well.. but Paramount donât fill me with long-term confidence.
I thought Matty Doran might get the job
If it were me, and what would I know. Iâd have just put this money into the existing news service and extend the local news by an hour and move primetime to 7pm. Itâs going better lately and with some more reporters and a cash injection it would have performed solidly enough into the evening programmes.
Local news > national. It always rates better.
I was thinking if it was split in 2, Eyewitness could be the current affairs show.
Im surprised it wasnt called 10 Action News in some ways with the planned harx hitting edge
Ten News+? Is that like Milk Plus from A Clockwork Orange?
Seriously, just call it Ten News at Six like a regular person.
I think the big fear with moving reality to 7pm is how it will go against ACA and H&A. Both 10 and Nine have had reality at 7pm weeknights which obviously worked to a degree, but the problem is, they dont have anything to convince people to make the switch.
Dont get me wrong, 10 do have that option, but probably more likely if 10 can do something at 7pm to tempt Seven to move H&A.
What do you suggest other than a group of people?
I think the idea is itâs âmore than just newsâ. Hence the +. I agree though. Itâs a stupid name.
I do wonder if there was stipulations in the funding given to them by Paramount to expand the brand and not just more / longer bulletins.
Well not to be one of those people but itâs not a very diverse lineup, is it?
It feels like a missed opportunity not to have gone a bit further. Maybe turned 5pm into a national bulletin with local at 7 and 9.30. No doubt there are reasons why they havenât done that but it seems a shame. 6pm should be an alternative to 7 and 9, IMO.
Yeah and that failed in the News Evolution in 2011. Itâs literally what they tried to do and it didnât work.
Will 10 promote the living crap out of this, or ignore that fact that it is coming to 6pm, and then wonder why ratings are poor?
@OnAir This sounds like a decent digital strategy to me ^
You know who uses the âplusâ additive to make their crappy news service stand out? Fox Corpâs US stations. E.g. In LA, KTTV 11 is Fox 11, and KCOP 13 is Fox 11 Plus.
Either make the Ten News âPlusâ presenters dress up like the Clockwork Orange gang, have them take a metric tonne of drugs and talk like a bunch of Russian wannabes, or bugger off. ![]()
Maybe the people that got the jobs were the most qualified? Radical concept I know.
I donât disagree with you. Was just trying to make sense of @Swannyâs comment.
Would do wonders for the ratings ![]()
This seems far too serious and same-same for 10. I would have gone for a Cheap Seats style half hour program at 6.30pm and then staight into prime time with local late news or a tonight show at 9pm. I just think 10 should always be the alternative. They never succeed when they do the same as the other networks.
How about we wait and see what it is first before we starting calling it same same or serious.
