Which will rate no better than now.
How close can they get to The Projectâs format without risking some kind of infringement I wonder. I know people say âmove onâ, but 10 News+ already has some slight similarities to The Project in terms of story selection, and if the goal is just to be cheaper while rating around 300k then that could help it.
If they had Georgie and another person hosting the show and included more casual studio segments, while keeping some serious longform stories, would that be too similar?
Canât imagine Denham Hitchcock being able to handle a Hotdogs evictee interview.
Iâve said it before. The show should be like Sunrise at night. You have two hosts with news and lighthearted stories. But instead of crossing to a newsreader and sports reporter for those news stories, the hosts do all of them.
Like The Cheap Seats, they just bring someone else in for the entertainment or funny stuff. Plus they can have guests in the studio who are promoting stuff or are evicted from reality shows.
To be fair, I would totally tune in to that for the entertainment value! ![]()
10 will legitimately never be able to compete with decades of viewer loyalty at 6pm, throw something cheap on, pivot towards 6:30, and leave 10 news+ in the past. This is burning a hole in the networkâs wallet which will end up in even more job losses over at 10.
I canât believe 10 management have let this go on for so long. I was an advocate for some radical change after 1 week. The metro number was 74,000 with just 6,000 watching in both Adelaide and Perth. The has to be a point where the key demos are so low no advertiser will want their ads shown.
Watched the teaser last night with Denham and Amelia being âso excitedâ about the Masterchef GF and interviewing the winner. Probably one of the cringiest things Iâve seen in a long time. So awkward and stilted.
No offence to the people whoâve worked hard to produce this show but if this show was a dog it would be cruel not to put it down. The Project was something people kept talking about as a low-rating block for 10 but it would be rating double this at the very least, and would be a hell lot more profitable by comparisonâŚ
I think it will come down to advertisers. They arenât going to believe the PR spin about staying with the show while it builds. 10 has always been focused on the key demos and The Project was a good performers and was an easy sell to advertisers.
10 News+ was ranking higher in the 25-54 demos to start with but is rapidly running out of viewers. No one will want to take the almost worthless spots and that will force 10âs hand (IMO).
Here are some 25-54 numbers from yesterday where the encore showing came up in the rankings because of a comparatively good lead in and early start.
10 News+
National 38,000
Metro 25,000
10 News+ Encore
National 28,000
Metro 22,000
I know ive said it before and its not a long term fix, but they can literally stop the haemorrhage for a few months if they just extend 10 news and chuck neighbours at 6:30pm.
I really thought it bottomed out at 145k, and then last week there was a little growthâŚbut come Sunday its been worse than ever.
And let Neighbours have a proper send off.
They are never going to compete with the likes of Bluey and Peppa Pig for the 2 year old demo
A bit of a step back from their hard-hitting reporting image portrayed in the launch promos. And yes I saw the teaser too, it was cringe.
If Ten are smart, theyâd boot it this week. Thereâs no recovering from those numbers.
If Ten are looking at Millionaire for 6:30pm in a couple of months time, could Family Feud or Deal Or No Deal repeats at 6:30 work and either cut News+ to half hour or extend the 5pm news to 6:30?
BTW - this Tuesday last year The Project (6.30 - 7.30) had 334,000 national 203,000 metro (basically 3 times the TP audience). DOND at 6pm had 267,000/162,000 at 6pm that is double the audience.
In 25-54 The Project had 129,000 and ranked 13th overall.
The 15 minute breakdown is even worse. ![]()
This looks sorta new, posted on 10âs main socials.
But it feels like they only recently covered this topic?

Hard disagree
Bring back the so called âwokeâ Project.
Where did those members go? ![]()
Bringing back The Project isnât a solution. It was axed for a reason. Its numbers were also diabolical. Just because its replacement didnât work doesnât mean you go backwards. They just need to find something that will work. Trial and error.
