Are these L3s new? Illawarra didn’t get them?

I think the 10 News logo needs to also have the city name (or region name for the specific license area like e.g: Ballarat or Western Victoria, Wollongong or Illawarra, and even Sunshine Coast, just like the capital cities. Put some real investment into improving your regional noodle updates 10.

And as others here in this forum said, these noodle updates could do with even just a generic local city/beach/land background vid where possible in the opener (10 News - perhaps insert name of region or city here - local update) so then it doesn’t feel like a generic/statewide news update of sorts, even though it’s not (the weather is though according to the maps, Sunshine Coast also shows Gold Coast, Toowoomba and Brisbane, while Southern NSW also shows Central West NSW, Canberra and Wagga Wagga, though the newsreader focuses on reading the weather for a region’s license area, e.g: Illawarra/South Coast).

There’s still improvements that need to be done but overall I do approve of the updated weather graphics at long last, that’s something.

Unfortunately, the noodle updates are, by nature, quick generic updates thrown together to fill a legal quota. A local backdrop won’t do much to change an already generic product. Same with adding the city/region name in the opener or the supers.

Seven gave the ex-Prime noodle updates local backdrops, but the product is still exactly the same as it was before.

Nope, not yet. I’d imagine soon enough.

Made the maps myself. Not too bad, all things considered.
Also made one for Tasmania, but will they use it? Dunno.

Will they use the new package full stop
On that note, have they received it yet?

If WIN makes the call that TDT isn’t commercially viable or profitable to keep going and it gets shut down, then maybe not. Remember that SWM and WIN own this station, with SWM operating the station and WIN (I think) handling advertising for the station. But I don’t think anyone wants more shutdowns, though we all already know TDT (along with a few other JVs) are indeed on borrowed time as some members here have suggested.

Should such shutdown of TDT go ahead, at least we have an idea of what the new graphics could’ve looked like in Tasmania had they received the new look.

I suspect Ten are being very cautious, they’re probably questioning to themselves do they really want to send out a new graphics package to a JV market that could potentially get shut down? I reckon they’re waiting to see if WIN will keep it going or if they’ll make the call to turn it off. Then we may know the answer.

Or simply put, Ten needs to step in and purchase TDT outright. Own and operate the station like their 3-agg market stations. That way Tasmania is then guaranteed to receive the new package.

Until we know of an outcome as such, 10 News First lives on in the Apple Isle!

Tasmania is a two-operator aggregated market. When there was money decades ago even then it was not deemed profitable for a third operator, now money is drying up so what makes someone think it would be profitable for a third player today?

“Hey Bill, the 10 News rebrand has been a success!”
“Great news, Jim! About to hit send on the graphics to Seven and WIN for Tasmania! We did it for them last time.”
“WAIT! What if they shut Tasmania down? We can’t have that!”

Can I have what you’re smoking? :squinting_face_with_tongue:

The way she’s framed that shot - with a bit of the set/desk -actually looks nicer than the usual presentation of the update. Pity we can’t see that on air.

They could’ve at least turned the lights on (minus the red strips) before that took that photo, surely? :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

Is that the old 7 Nightly News set?

We would if they introduced fully blown-out local 30-minute bulletins for said regions.

Come on 10. Do it. I dare you. It’d rate better than 10 News+ :stuck_out_tongue:
