I hope you’re right. There is sense in investing in CBS News, Australia is much smaller market wise but hopefully adds to the ecosystem.
Easy to agree with that feeling. Just looking at the last 15 years, every so often there is an attempt to bolster news programming which inevitably ends up being cut and the news department ends up much worse off and with even less resources then what they started with.
You would have to be pretty confident to want to join 10 if you are on a good wicket at another network.
Sophie Walsh?
On the plus side for 10 with this iteration of a news revolution is that the two buffoons ripping 10 apart at the time are long gone.
Hopefully whatever 10 have planned is given time to bed in.
I wish them well.
Maybe, she’s been off air and working quietly behind the scenes..
If she did move to Ten I could see her in a senior role, such as presenting the national weekend news if/when Chris Bath decides to move on.
Network 10 is yet to officially announce Denham Hitchcock’s appointment, but an internal email sent to staff by News Director Martin White on Sunday has confirmed the veteran reporter will be part of the network’s newly-established Investigative Unit, alongside new recruit Amelia Brace.
The internal memo, obtained by TV Blackbox, outlines the team tasked with developing long-form content under respected reporter Daniel Sutton — whose appointment to lead the unit can also now be officially confirmed for the first time.
The email, sighted by TV Blackbox reads:
“Denham is a vastly experienced, internationally recognised story-breaker, and Amelia is a Walkley winner who has worked in Canberra and the United States.”
White wrote.
“They will both be developing ideas for 10 News with Dan Sutton.”
Hitchcock confirmed his appointment to 10 via Instagram
Happy for Hitchcock and Brace, two very good journalists and have excelled in the past, the latter has had a few big years.
Rather surprising news though, assume they’re technically promotions for them. I’m sure Seven or another network would have them back one day too if 10’s show doesn’t work out. And well done Daniel Sutton, one of 10’s longest serving senior reporters in Sydney, goes back about 19 years and interesting he’s taking a behind the scenes role, which you’d also assume EP is a promotion or sorts for him.
Keen to see how this new strategy unfolds. Wonder if Seven have been blindsided a bit too, especially amongst the executive upheaval and the reported negative experience with De Ceglie, with the article suggesting others are also being considered?
Quite a lovely post, referencing his Dad, Kevin Hitchcock from Eyewitness News. Loved he had Eyewitness News stickers all over his bunk bed!
Chris Bath, Jennifer Keyte and Sharyn Ghidella come to mind as well.
Lachlan Kennedy reading at Lunchtime, Ange back at 3:30.
How odd to split that shift over 2 people
Seems rare that it happens, Ange likely had other commitments (entertainment interview, personal reasons) around Lunchtime, and Lachlan likely readying a report for Sydney’s 5pm news during Afternoons.
Lots of stumbling tonight.
I think Pippa needs to slow down. She’s making lots and lots of mistakes.
5:37: I wonder what’s going on with her? She’s usually very good. She’s making an error on most stories tonight.
Samara Garner is presenting the weather tonight. I believe this her first time. Paris Martin did last Saturday, Amanda last Sunday.
