Unlikely as he has a young family and is doing very well as chief state political reporter and fill in presenter where needed.
Agree, I don’t think they’d go with trying to relocate someone.
Lachlan would also be fairly risk adverse I would say, not withstanding his young family, but after being moved off the Qld bulletin previously and their recent failed Breakfast show.
Should they go down the local bulletin route, my money would be on Georgina Hill or Amanda Hart.
Remember, Perth still maintained local crosses for sport and later weather while the bulletin was presented from Sydney. In Adelaide, they returned to a dedicated bulletin when they moved to a new smaller building, but Sydney still plays a substantial part (including Kate reading from there).
Returning the bulletin to Queensland seems like such an unlikely leap for 10. I don’t even think the studio and control room are fully or semi automated. It would require re-investing what they took away (unlike the other stations), which makes it harder than simply promoting a reporter. A more gradual step (sadly) would be more believable.
Wasn’t COVID or financial constraints some of the primary reasons for the centralization of 10 News First back in 2020? I remember this was announced at some point during Victoria’s second wave of COVID cases.
I believe so. I think COVID was also the reason they cut 10daily.
Kate needs to return to Adelaide or get someone who is.
This situation likely works for 10 too with limited presentation space in Adelaide, so no reason for them to change it anytime soon.
I know ADS moved into a new building in the city’s east recently; where they used to be (~2007-21) was where they moved into during the time that the bulletin was presented out of Melbourne (not a composite bulletin) by George Donikian and Rebecca Morse.
From what I can remember having been to Adelaide in December 2021, the new ADS headquarters is quite a small building but happy to be corrected.
You are correct, the old Hutt St studio was a much better space and was in such a place in the city it was far more convenient, as Seven and Nine were both in North Adelaide at the time.
Seems like where they are now is basically just a floor (or few?) of rented office space in a high-rise office building whereas Hutt Street, they basically had the run of the whole building/tv station to themselves including multiple presenting spaces between the balconies, newsroom and desk- seemed very cool in comparison to now. Indeed, I think it was purpose built for them at the time/customized - reminded me a little of a mini Pyrmont. Big pity (and shortsighted) that they moved, otherwise we might have seen a ‘live from Hutt Street’ promo similar to those Melbourne and Sydney ones.
That said, they do seem to manage (just) when Tiff or Kate presents the news from Adelaide. I’m not sure how much of a draw card Kate actually is vs returning local presentation but as has been said above, seems to work for 10, including providing another back up presenter in Sydney.
Hugh Riminton presenting the weekend news tonight.
Chloe-Amanda Bailey on Sport tonight.
She was on Friday and Saturday as well (possibly longer though). Is this her presenting debut?
I’m guessing they meant on 10, since she’s not exactly a new reporter/presenter, but that bottom screen grab is from 10 so guessing it’s not her debut presenting sport on the network.
She was quite good from what I saw.
I think she’s terrific. Such a natural and gets on well with the team on air.
According to Georgina’s LinkedIn, she most recently worked as story producer on Married at First Sight.
What a fall
from a low rating local news bulletin to one of the most popular programs on TV?
