Ten News First Presenters and Reporters (2020-Feb 2025)

Chris’s management posted on Instagram saying she would remain on 10 News First in addition to her new duties.

Drive is a higher profile role, and I guess she still enjoys doing news reading.

She has filled in on ABC News in the past, in 2017:

Yep, which is why I said she could be used again.

Wonder if they’d let her fill in present on ABC News concurrently

What could happen this time around is she may be able to do her radio gig remotely, given she lives rurally (and has indicated that she is unlikely to move back to Sydney) - that would definitely ease the impact of working seven days a week having to only commute for two of them. A few radio presenters did this during the COVID times and it made no difference to the average listener’s experience

Love the outdated 10 News page she tagged

if she hasn’t built a profile over the last 30 years, the weekend news at channel 10 isn’t going to help haha

10 might be happy for Chris to stay as the increased radio profile may drive a viewer increase to weekend news……

I should’ve worded it better…not so much build her profile but rather continue to grow and expand her brand/profile from a marketing and financial perspective.

I remember she did also fill in as a host on The Project once or twice but guessing she got her contract updated after realising it wasn’t a serious newsreader gig

She also did The Sunday Project in 2017 before Lisa Wilkinson moved across from Nine.

She’s previously done other roles, but now, if she works outside the weekend news, she takes a weekend off.

We saw this when she stepped in for Sandra when Sandra took personal leave.

I wish she were more actively involved with the network, doing more in-depth interviews like she did during the 2020 bushfires in the NSW Southern Highlands - that was a rare example of her storytelling skills.

As many have said, she’s wasted behind the news desk.

Exactly - a couple years ago, she was doing stuff like election coverage and was in the promos - now she isn’t seen outside of weekend news.

That’s how tight her contact is.

The last promo IIRC was when all presenters were flown into town to do new promos. It was at the hype of the CBS takeover.

Was such a fun shoot.

She was also in the 2021 “Time for the full story promos”

Still, the 2019 promos wereworld class - so much hope for the staff - re-introduction of a political editor and international correspondents, more staff being hired in newsrooms, full blown election coverage, fancy new set in Sydney. Now, those who are left are now doing more with less resources on the back of an oily rag.

Thanks for rejigging my memory

The 2019 promos were the best. Everyone was happy and excited about what was in store, and having the backing from CBS, we all thought it was the new era. Until along came Viacom and then paramount and news isn’t a focus. Let’s skydance doesn’t change anything when (and if) they eventually merg.

I don’t think it’s unreasonable for her to request to do only what she is paid for.

And here we are today where 10 forks out a motser to snag Sharyn and Liz but then completely fails to promote them apart from a few walkabout promos with Sharyn in the first couple of weeks.

Try finding a promo for Sharyn right now… I dare you. But hey, let’s flog Dessert Masters and Matlock into the ground!

10 just don’t give a fuck about news. I previously said that the promos would be seen for like a week and vanish entirely.
