A strange day to make such an important announcement considering the main three presenters weren’t at work.

I would imagine that either they would’ve been told separately by management (like how some talent affected by the 2020 news cuts were told their roles would be changing/cut by management before team meetings), or they may have been called into the office for the meeting.

With the rumours of The Project getting the axe, i wonder if 10 would consider moving it’s Newsroom up to the level The Project occupies (apparently they take up an entire level?) and build a bigger studio on that level. Maybe a green screen AR studio so other shows can use it?
I highly doubt it. More likely ATV10 will give up the lease for that level. Very sad day for all involved. Unfortunately, I can’t see the new show lasting more than 6 months.
I’ll be anticipating what 10 launches in 2026.

During a report tonight on the cold weather in the south-eastern states, the reporter stated there was 51cm of snow at Mt Hotham followed by “across the border in New South Wales, Mt Buller received 26 cm”.
Um, Mt Buller is closer to Melbourne than Mt Hotham. Not sure if they meant Thredbo but either way, not great.
If the Project costs so much, 10 could invest some of the savings into a bare-bones breakfast show With Sarah Harris and maybe Lachlan Kennedy

The Project budget would be allocated to primetime. The money would (in turn) go back into the same timeslot.
Can’t see 10 and an AM news/live offering happening anytime in the foreseeable future. Focusing on PM only is probably saving them money, or at least allowing them to consolidate resources and focus where it matters most which is probably a good thing.

In all fairness, nobody saw a ACA/Spotlight/60 minutes show either.
Anything’s possible with 10 given how tight lipped they’re remaining.

Didn’t they try 8am-9am or 10am news last year some time? And it failed.
It was a half hour bulletin at 8am leading into Studio 10, launched 27th June 2022 - and lasted all of 6 months.

They had 8am news back in 2022 as a lead-in to Studio 10
Who cares about oversaturated breakfast TV. Later in the evening after primetime should be their focus.
6-midnight is where the money and audience is.

Had a shower thought. Is the new show live? If it isn’t - 10 have a spare control room which could be used for 10 News First Brisbane

I would think that it is live. It would have to be. I think there would be lots of live crosses, long form investigations and analysis panels.
With this new national program, 10 would benefit from making their 5pm even more hyperlocal.
Good point. Possible that Melbourne can use the third control room for Brisbane?
Then Sydney manages Sydney+the new 6PM show.

Late news ended tonight without a good bye but by playing God Only Knows to remember Brian Wilson. Thought it was very touching.
