Interesting bits of the theme. Quite liked that little piano bit near the end

How’s Midday been rating lately @TV.Cynic?

Fairly well IMO. Some days are lower then it jumps back up again. The lower rating shows are subject to more error in the estimated ratings due to the low numbers especially in the small markets. There were two very good results this week; it’s been a few weeks since a ‘bad’ number.

Worth noting that today’s bulletin was also using the alternate theme, missing some animations in the opener, no ticker, and the sting coming back from breaks was different.
Seems issues persist from yesterday.

New weather angles used today for the recorded weather preview. They used the three screens on the right for the Temperatures before moving to the larger screen.

Nice to see them trying different things.

Interesting change.
Don’t really like the very squared boxes on each screen. Would look better if it was fullscreen for each screen.
Also the font seems a bit too thick for each temperature.

Trying to make the Frankenstein bulletin more watchable.

Erin Edwards Appointed Executive Editor, 10 News First Queensland.

Network 10 Appoints Award-Winning Journalist, Erin Edwards As Executive Editor, 10 News First Queensland.

Walkley award-winning journalist, Erin Edwards, is bringing more than two decades of experience and expertise to Network 10. Tasked with spearheading the Queensland bulletin, Erin will lead a team of dedicated journalists and adept crew to tell the stories that Queenslanders want to see.

Erin was a senior journalist at Seven for the past 23 years honing her skills and networks throughout the state with roles in Mackay, Townsville, the Sunshine Coast and her hometown, Brisbane, before joining 10 News First Queensland.

Martin White, Head of Broadcast News, Paramount Australia and New Zealand, said Erin will bring contemporary industry insights to the bulletin and was a key appointment for the network.

Martin said: “We’re delighted to welcome Erin to the network. As the editorial leader of the newsroom, Erin will be setting the agenda for quality local and national content for the state. I look forward to seeing her exceptional eye for news, exemplary story-telling skills and professionalism shape the Queensland bulletin.”

Born and bred Queenslander, Erin gained a Bachelor of Journalism at The University of Queensland and during her tenure at Seven, won a Walkley Award for Television News Reporting for her story on the Lockyer Valley Flood.

Erin said she is looking forward to broadcasting stories with a strong community focus for 10 News First.

“I want to share more of the stories that Queenslanders want to see. We’ll always deliver the breaking news and won’t shy away from the hard stories. But we’ll also highlight the quiet achievers, the community leaders and inspirational Queenslanders who have the stories that make us proud, lift us up and unite us across the state.

“I’m also excited to take this next step in my career with 10 News First. I’ve admired their grit and guts for decades and I’m thrilled to be collaborating with experienced local journalists and a top-notch production team.

“But it’s also an incredible career highlight to be working alongside Sandra Sully, one of Queensland’s and Australia’s most iconic and talented news anchors. To say I’m excited for this opportunity is an understatement,” said Erin

Hopefully this is the start of changes that will lead to a dedicated locally produced Queensland bulletin.

I think you might be right.

Clearly with Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth all returning to local editions it’s only a matter of time until Sydney and Brisbane follow.

Has QLD not had an executive editor (after the cuts)?

I also agree, but as Lexington has said, it seems that QLD is the hardest to return to fully local. Time will tell.

They have, Erin’s replacing Holly Green who left a few weeks back.

Yep… I would imagine the investment to upgrade could be signed off on. Especially with Brisbane being our new Olympic city.

Hopefully. The comment about working along side Sandra is an interesting one though if they do intend to return local presentation…

Just PR spin. 10 is happy with Brisbane’s News ratings.

Things may change in the future but as long as Beverly is the boss, nothings gonna happen.

Brisbane’s ratings may have held on but hasn’t Sydney’s dropped significantly?
