It was alright for something very quickly put together, but the single camera setup and lack of control room are pretty big issues.
The Brisbane set is only a temporary setup. Basically a few different set parts from Melbourne and Sydney. .
Brisbane deserves better than this. Especially with the numbers itās pulling in for the network at the moment.
Iām not saying build a permanent set asap. But at least plan for one. 10 should be looking at creating a uniformed look with Melbourne / Brisbane and Adelaide.
Time to spend some money.
They could invest a little into Perth. The set is suitable for being 10+ years old. They need two more cameras, and they could do so much more.
Adelaide needs to be presented live and locally every weeknight with a small purpose-built set.
Coming from Sydney, most nights when Kate decides to present, it doesnāt work. As for Melbourne, that set needed updating years ago.
Brisbane needs its own control room. If they donāt want to rebuild one at TVQ, they should build one in Perth and have Perth control Brisbane, Perth, and the late news. Not everything should be relied on Sydney and Melbourne. Those control room crews are already stretched as it is.
Didnāt you say that they couldnāt add anymore camera in Perth & QLD because they donāt have the technology to run them?
Ah, 10 operates on a shoestring. What theyāre currently doing is brilliant for the return but, yes, iron out the control room issues.
When everything was centralised, the extra DV lines that ran the cameras were removed, as they arenāt cheap. They can reinstall them, but itāll come at a cost.
I agree with this. It would be far more beneficial for the network to invest in a west coast control room due to time zones.
Would love a desk like this, also when it comes to 10 News Melbourne (as it should be called, not FIRST), I was thinking whether it would better suited to have Jen and Stephen co-anchor together, and have Stephen do sports as well. It seems wasteful having him just do sports when heās been there so long and anchored the broadcast solo before, it might also help the bulletin which has been performing rather sluggishly, and both have known each other for over 30 years and have great chemistry.
Very rare to see news ratings records set in January
Included another record for Brisbane 60,000 / 58,000

The proof is in the pudding here with Brisbane going upwards. Invest moreā¦
A few weeks of higher than average numbers is meaningless unless we see this steady increase throughout the year.
Remember that Tipping Point is not on yet.
Although the numbers are definitely promising.
The numbers can be compared to the equivalent weeks last year when there wasnāt a game show on Nine.
Love the use of āgame show on Nineā
Are we implying 10 NF can beat The Chase?
Have always liked the way they use the football set for entertainment reports, love those backgrounds.
I just think Brisbanes problem is the desk is too big and the wrong design for the back set pieces and the space is too small, you can see there is no depth to the shot at all - Sharyn (or Georgie per the cap) is literally crammed up against the screen.
That wide shot is almost never seen either, apart from the opener and closer.
Some kind of framing around the main screen would also make a big difference to the set. At the moment it just feels like something that was thrown in, instead of something that was intended to be added to the set.
National news didnāt start until 5.03pm in Brisbane today. They ran a commercial break at the top. Not sure if it was a national output issue and, if so, you would think it could have been fixed for the delay to Brisbane?
Happened in Regional NSW as well so must of been national.
Or an SCA issue? They tend to have a habit of crashing into the news⦠especially 3.30 where the afternoon local updates tend to go overtime.
