In this case, fair to assume that updates and special edition of 10 News First would mean they’d be local - not sure anyone would have interpreted that otherwise.
But let’s not get into semantics, they’ve served up a fair but disappointing product tonight.
According to Sharon at the end of last night’s breaking news sting for David Cristafulli’s speech it was said that there would be a “special local edition of 10 News First tomorrow from 5pm”
This being 10, expect a live cross between Bathie and Sharon and the bulletin to remain largely national.
Poor Sharyn coming in on the weekend only to be seen for a few minutes at a time. What a waste. No one is watching 10 on weekends anyway. Surely a reporter could have done these updates? It would be completely different if it were full coverage though.
I disagree. I think even for short updates, you put your main presenter on air during special local events. Sure, it may be a low viewership on any given night, but that’s not the long term point.
10 usually get fairly solid audiences from Qld during the national weekend news, comparable to the weekday news - I wouldn’t say the exercise is pointless.
They definitely heard our complaints yesterday - this is what should be regular.
Maybe put a reporter to do the weekend bulletin from QLD and this would be a definite watch.
I don’t even think that was the case - probably moreso that today’s 60 minute bulletin meant they could reuse the resources in Sydney to control the Queensland bulletin at 6pm AEDT.
Yesterday’s 90 minute bulletin made this more difficult.
10’s local bulletin did well in Brisbane with 51,000 total TV - well up on the usual Sunday result that is usually in the 30,000s and the highest for a Sunday this year.
It’s a long shot, but if there was any thought of more local bulletins on weekends this would be a proof of concept.
