46,000 - up slightly on recent numbers and the highest rating so far since the move to local hosting.
Thatâs good, hopefully it keeps climbing.
Definitely following the rise of 10NF Brisbane at the moment and see if they can do the impossible and be somewhat competitive in Brisbane with Sharon at the helm.
10 Newâs competition is The Chase and Tipping Point and from 10âs POV its in key demos so they can sell to advertisers. On good days 10 can get up to the same 25-54 as The Chase in Brisbane.
A secondary task is to give a good lead in to DOND of course.
Not ideal with the lighting glare hitting the screen.
They wouldnât have any live content needed, Iâm sure they could work around the existing ones to pre-record updates and the like.
To be fanciful for a moment - given Ten can pre-record portions of their bulletins, it wouldnât be impossible for Ten to be doing stuff more like an NBN News and slot in the âlocalâ updates with their main anchor into the state bulletins.
Looks like signs that 10âs investment in Brisbane might be starting to pay off with Wednesdayâs rating of 55,000 Total TV. That follows several days in the +40,000 region and is significantly higher than any recent result. The broadcast TV rating was 52,000 that is the second highest I have recorded for the year. Compared to last year no day in October rated over 50,000. At the same time yesterday The Chase in Brisbane had 55,000.
Itâs rising from the deepâŚ
Câmon 10 go one better today
It was always going to take a while before we saw any real results. This is extremely promising so far.
Melbourne on the other hand. If theyâve found money for the floors in Sydney (assuming itâs not built into a building maintenance contract or the like) then surely some dollars would be best spent in Melbourne doing a bit of updatingâŚ
Correct, Melbourne is now in need of a massive refresh.
The bulletin feels and looks tired.
Melbourne undoubtedly is due for an update, but will set updates move the needle that much?
They probably need to look at the product holistically and see where improvements can be made to address the decline in audiences.
Iâve mentioned it before but small changes would make Melbourne look fresher. Doesnât need to break the bank.
The bulletin is just so static nowadays. They used it quite well back when the set was first introduced.
Angles such as these:
Present sport and some stories from the standing area:
Re-introduce those vertical RHS screens and use them.
Small changes which would go a long way to making the bulletin feel more lively.
Melbourne needs a new set.
Its time the network prioritise this in the budget.
It looks vastly small, tired and cheap in comparison to the other local news sets.
Considering Brisbane essentially got scraps, and that Melbourneâs bulletin rates a fraction of Seven or Nineâs bulletins, I doubt any refresh would even partially match the competition.
Perhaps they could remove the thick framing around the screens, replace the riser and build a replica Sydney desk for the space?
Agree. Thatâs why itâs time for Paramount and 10 to invest in a new set. With the resent ratings fall in Melbourne, this is now validated.
Melbourne should be first, followed by Brisbane with a more permanent set up.
The Brisbane bulletin had 39k last night. The average across the week at this stage is up 17% on this week last year.
Melbourne made a welcome recovery to 64k Total TV.
Who cares about the set, move the bulletin already.
Itâs odd that 10 built this whole new set in Brisbane, yet still continue to use the screen in the newsroom (the one with the blue tint/hue) for reports in the national bulletins.
I mean maybe the late news report was filmed while the main set was in use but what about during the daytime bulletins?
Maybe the camera in the studio is only usable from the Melbourne control room?
