Weather is now shown before sport, Josh did a live cross as usual from the foyer area of the Pyrmont Studios.
I wouldn’t say a lot of work, likely just a new team working through some timing issues, that and I really think they should host it from anywhere else other than where they are currently.
Really like the newsroom backdrop used on Studio 10 back it was a panel show.
I think a newsroom backdrop is perfect when networks have a relatively small video wall in the studio. Think it would look too much out of place in a bigger studio like the atrium set, or Seven or Nine’s main studio. The only exception is if it’s a window, and not a monitor, like Ten Sydney back in Bill Woods/Deb Knight days. It was perfect back in the day when Nine used this backdrop, which was a window for the majority of it’s use.
Whilst I don’t think it would be good at Midday, I reckon it would be great at 3.30.
Obviously this was a window looking into the control room (happy to be corrected). Would need to place a camera in there (like Seven did back in the 00’s with BCM in Melbourne).
You know what it’d even be better for, late news with some lighting. Not the same as the last news room backdrops but much better than a dark globe spinning.
Get that mini version of the main desk infront. It’d look great. Cost nothing.
With Seven and Nine now both doing the late news from Perth for “efficiencies”, it’s hard to see how the most budget-tight news department won’t have their news from Perth either.
Regardless of how she is employed at 10, she has been the national weekend news presenter since early 2019 on a consistent basis.
Not sure why they wouldn’t promote on her on that basis, my guess is they would rather pour promotional efforts into the weekday local bulletins and not draw attention to the fact they’re national on weekends.
Contractor I believe, which is why she doesn’t fill in for Sandra on the weekday bulletins, as they don’t have to pay extra to have a full time staff member like Hugh come in and present.
