Ten News First Content and Appearance (2015-Sept 2020)

Sending Sandra Sully into the jungle could be regarded promotion? Cheesy as it is.
Ten have some serious talent at their disposal at the moment with Anjali Roa and Chris Bath both connected to the network. Ten should try a 9:30pm bulletin with Roa and replace Riminton with Bath.
Meakin really hasn’t added anything noticeable since his arrival.

Just adding my two cents in here one main news buliten during the late evening is fine Prime News in NZ have done it for years and there ratings are fine they used to have some form of a breakfast show I believe they used to have 7Sunrise or 9Today as a simulcast in NZ but they canned that.

So I see where Ten is going, keep it simple sometimes is better.

Now that all that is behind them after four long years and two failures at breakfast time… they can see a direction, it may not be clear to us, or what some MS’ers want… but they have a direction. And by slowly adding staff they’re bolstering the news very quietly.
I believe that they aren’t be efficient enough. During the week, far enough, they are slowly rebuilding what they heavy demolished and yes it takes time, so good for them. However, their lack of care or efforts to promote their news service- the lack of care for the viewers by not airing the weekend news on some occasions, pretty much sums it up. The Project and Studio 10 are their only news and current affairs as such programs which have and will be successful. They do as a network have a large monetary affairs as IMACGMOOH! must cost a fortune. Meakin, someone who I thought could do good things for Ten, has sat on his backside and done nothing. I understand it is difficult and they are in an awful financial position but come on! A little effort and enthusiasm please!

@Mischievous1 - so are you saying Hugh should be presenting alongside Tarsh or even as a political reporter.

I dont think so. They need a bare bones service leading into Studio 10, perhaps the lead stories from each market the previous day, overnight news from each market that’s it. Give me the headlines, what’s coming up today (senate enquiry, royal commission etc…) and the weather. then studio 10.

I’m not a fan of Hugh at the desk with Sandra. They have never clicked. He’s good presenting by himself but he’s an exceptional political reporter. A return to Canberra would be my preference.

Couldn’t agree more, this morning team could then produce national updates until local news services commence updates from 12pm up until the 5pm bulletin airs.

This to me seems like the likeliest option of which I could see happening in the near future given their current position.
I do somewhat agree. Although, I think would have more popularity with the ratings if they launch a 30 minute Morning News straight after Studio 10 at 11am. The other two networks have their morning shows still going at 11; Nine Morning News Hour was IIRC rating well when it was at the 11am hour; and Studio 10 is having an average of 68,000, surely a news bulletin at 11am would be stronger than Bondi Rescue or Cooking.

exactly.

As the Old El Paso ad goes… what not have both? 2 half hour bulletins, a few noodle updates through Studio 10… perfect use of an extra studio crew rotation.
Can’t wait for Ten HD to come to regional areas.

I have to try and control myself. If I get carried away, I would have planned a 24 hour news channel. More the better right?

Glad the national bulletin is coming to QLD again this weekend. Just at a different time 5.30-6.30.

It’s just about being smart. 2 thirty minute updates would sit very nicely, even without content in Studio 10. Hell, make them noodle updates IN Studio 10 and charge the cost off to a sponsor.

I understand the whole cost cutting weekend bulletin, but can never understand why they can’t at least have separate state weather updates through the evening. Surely it couldn’t be that hard?

why pour money into early morning news again? Primetime news is where they need to invest, when they have eyes on them, otherwise they are wasting money on their news department for a 5pm bulletin fewer and fewer people are watching.

All sorts of problems with the weather bulletin in Sydney. Rather than the weather map appearing the end board for the Jon English was shown then a black screen. Bailey handled it surprisingly well.

Is Sydney automated yet?

TEN actually have someone covering news online & on social media for them today, not usually seen over the weekends for the national bulletin.

Good to hear. Slowly but surely they will pick themselves up. Those ratings need to be improved ASAP tho.

I hear a new digital team has been hired from around the network, you’ll be seeing a bit more from now on…

All they need to do now is hire some people to actually promote their bulletin on television.

How often do Ten promote their news service? If you watch Seven or Nine during primetime, you’re basically smacked over the head with ads for their 6pm news.
